How long before engine temp reaches normal op temp?

I think this thread can be closed now and I surely wont start one again, I thought this forum was where one would help another but I get the notion that some, rather than typing a helpful answer or not typing at all, solely wants to send unhelpful and unrelated remarks. Why not turn that energy...

How long before engine temp reaches normal op temp?

Nothings wrong with the engine temp or coolant temp. 1 out of 10 drives, the needle is stuck at bottom for as long as I drive, until I restart the engine and then it jumps up to normal working temp. Thats the core of this thread, that the gauge needle isnt reacting as it should. And it seems...

How long before engine temp reaches normal op temp?

Can't see how that's relevant to why the gauge needle isn't reacting and is stuck at the bottom. Thanks anyway.

How long before engine temp reaches normal op temp?

Yes, i do have a paper board blocking the radiator. However, when the engine temp reach normal it stays there and do not sway. I can only think to replace the temp sensor and thermostat again after the winter is over. I wonder if the thermostat isn't closed properly, and thus letting cool water...

How long before engine temp reaches normal op temp?

Has no one had this problem before? Either I get error code P0128 (Coolant temp below thermostat regulating temp) when the gauge needle moving slow Or The gauge needle isnt moving at all until I restart the engine

How long before engine temp reaches normal op temp?

Hey, I'm gonna continue this thread since the problem I've had did not get solved. The temp gauge, for coolant, is (sometimes!) not reacting at all when I start and drive, for the whole trip it does not move. But when I turn off the engine after a drive and restart then the gauge jumps up to...

    Question about starting/ignition

It would be at my own risk yes, but I fail to see the problems with bypassing this. The key still activates the start up and boots everything up, the last turn position in the ignition lock is only to send a signal to the solenoid. As far as Im aware... However, thanks for the info about Tip...

    Question about starting/ignition

Nice job, thanks! Now, is this function a part of the solenoid or in a relay/computer?

    Question about starting/ignition

On older cars, when the key or ignition wasnt working, I'd set up a new relay and run cables to a push button and the starter solenoid, thus bypassing the original wiring, so I could start the car. And its also useful to bypass if you want to crank the engine with ignition off during repair or...

    Question about starting/ignition

Hey, Just wondering.. When you turn the key to ignition it automatically engages the starter for a few seconds even if you only turn the key quickly and then let go. If you understand what I'm referring to... it's not required to hold the key while the starter is going, you only need to turn...

Adding Bed Weight for Winter Driving

I drive on winter roads for 6 months a year. My ram truck is doing good on the road without load, but I had an asian truck that wouldn't go any where without a 300 lbs load. It doesn't take much weight to get better traction, and adding a simple load directly over the suspension is good in my...

Help needed for engine oil - 5w-20 or 0w-20

Yes I'm aware of the meaning the oil's viscosity ratings. Could you elaborate why you'd use 0w-30. Isnt 20 good enough when hot?

Help needed for engine oil - 5w-20 or 0w-20

Since the warranty is out for my old truck it feels like the manufacturer doesnt care any more to recommend what's the best oil for My engine. Cause the same oil is beeing recommended for newer rams. Don't wanna ruin a perfectly good hemi engine cause of a bad oil. Only got 70k miles on the...

Help needed for engine oil - 5w-20 or 0w-20

Thanks for all the answers. Yes, its Alaskan driving conditions. The specified is 5w-20, but gulf's recommending 0w-20 now. I'm leaning against that 0w-20. Why change summer viscosity? Isnt 20 best for my engine? And regarding 0w, 5w or even 10w, feels like such a small difference, I would be...

Help needed for engine oil - 5w-20 or 0w-20

But why the change to 0w-20 as dodge now recommends for my car? What has happend for them to change the recommendation. Thanks for any answers.

Help needed for engine oil - 5w-20 or 0w-20

So a 5w-30 oil is Ok to use for my hemi? Any pro here who could say how much the difference is between 20 and 30, ie if anything bad could happen to the engine.

Help needed for engine oil - 5w-20 or 0w-20

Hey! Since my retailer now have stop selling Gulf ultrasynth 5w-20 and are now recommending 0w-20 I looking for your thoughts on the matter, since my car has been recommeded from factory to use 5w-20 and, its inprinted on the oil cap also, should I really change to 0w-20?... I have cold starts...

New fan clutch never disengage, problem?

Didn't notice. But if anything it would be an increase of MPG if the fan's constant high rpm actually taking more power out of the engine.
