I've read countless threads on here relating to ABS problems with the RAM 1500 truck. I don't wanna just throw parts at it, so I'm trying to find what to check.
My symptoms:
Stability Control light comes on intermittently with the front brakes locking up randomly.
What I've done so far:
I...
I went stock with everything. Didn't really want to give it more power... Just want it to have the best chance of survival under my son's heavy right foot.
Nail on the head.... I looked down there a few times and it just looked like bracketry to tidy up the harness.... But the big lug was just danglin....:oops:
My 2010 Ram 1500 was in a front end collision before I got the truck. Seems that the TIPM enclosure on the drivers side isn't quite right. The panel doesn't click into the box and there's an external plug that seems like it needs a home. I wondered if I can get some good pictures of a stock...
I found that the engine ground on the back of the block was broken where it connects to the body, so I ran a wire directly to the negative on the battery, but still no dice. I'm gonna replace it and pull the plugs to see if I can at least get the motor to turn over.
Just finished rebuilding my 5.7 hemi in my 2010 1500 truck. Got it all ready to start and I get a click and the starter gear engages, but nothing else. The battery tests good under load and the starter seemed to work find on a bench test. Tried a new starter and same problem. I pulled the...
This engine had a spun rod bearing, so I was worried some shrapnel got in the cam phaser... But it looked pretty good, and I cleaned it very well, so hopefully I won't have any issues with it.
I just watched a video of a phase limiter installation and it looks like all there's just a big spring in there. Don't wanna mess with that, just wanna make sure I clean it really well.
Is there anything special I should do with the VVT cam gear before assembly? Do I need to strip it down or just give it a good clean and spray it off with brake clean?
I didn't check for a rod and piston assembly as the piston is in good shape. Just didn't count on the rod being a press fit. Do you use any heat in the process?
I've gotta change the connecting rod on #8. It's press on, so I'm thinking I can just heat the rod a little and make a fixture for my press. Then, install the new rod after leaving the wrist pin in the freezer overnight. Probably need to heat the new rod too. Any tricks to this process?
The 5.7 hemi I'm rebuilding had a spun rod bearing. The number 8 rod bit into the crankshaft about 50 thousands. I took it to a machine shop and they weld repaired it and reground it. It looks really good, but there is some very small pitting where the weld is. I'm struggling to decide if I...
Appreciate the info. Didn't know the difference between the VVT solenoid and the MDS solenoid, so that helps! I'm thinking I'll just hack out what's left of the two remaining MDS solenoids and replace them. The VVT solenoid is also stuck, and I'd really like to get it out so I can clean it...
