Knocking noise drivers side dash area on sharp impacts
Ok, so I solved this problem. The metal clip that holds the brake pedal on a metal shaft was not as tight as it should be, allowing the pedal to rattle over bumps. Of course the noise gets transmitted up behind the dash.- loopless

2012, 86K, Laramie Longhorn suddenly loses power coming to traffic light

Just to update this. truck is running again with a new (used) ECM....at substantial total cost, though the used ECM's are only $200-$250. There does seem to be a design issue with this MY and the engine cover. The tech who fixed mine routed everything away from the engine cover but said I might...- loopless

Bilstein 5100 durability
It’s clear that the 5100’s are street shocks and for occasional rough road duties. I’ve learnt my lesson.... baja roads needs something a bit more serious. Thanks for the good tips (and thanks to bilstein for their warranty!). -

Baja is still pretty magical once you get past San Quintin. I think the only solution is to go with the 5160 with reservoir ( or Fox shocks). At least it "only" costs labor to replace the 5100s but it is sort of annoying... -

Just a heads up from my personal experience and that of my other truck owning friends. The 5100s really improved the ride of my 2013 outdoorsman over stock but the 5100s are not up to rough road driving . I drive in baja on public and marked dirt roads (aka most roads in Baja) to surfing spots... -

I had this message in the main display along with cruise control being disabled. (2013 Outdoorsman 4WD) Just for other members information this turned out to be caused by the steering being out of alignment. Apparently if the alignment is sufficiently 'out' it will cause this error. So the fix... -

My MY13 NEVER got the OTA update. However, they made it available , finally on the UConnect web site and I downloaded the update onto a USB stick and did it that way.- loopless

Ok , interesting. My truck certainly looks the same at the front as it did before, so maybe the tech set the collar on the bils at whatever was required to keep the same lift. I should have asked. I'll pop a question to the tech on monday. -

As I wanted to keep the same setting as stock , I assume the front perch was set to the 'no lift' setting ( remember the outdoorsman is already 'leveled' from the factory). I just told the shop doing the work to 'make it so'. So any photo is pretty boring, it's a stock outdoorsman with 17"... -

Just put Bilstein 5100's F/R on my 2013 Outdoorsman (@30K). Wow, what a difference to how the truck rides. -it is much less jittery and harsh. The outdoorsman comes lifted/leveled at the front from the factory over 'stock', so no need to add in extra lift with the Bilsteins. Definitely worth... -

NEW uConnect Update Available! (v13.48.3)
Whats cool about this update is the new "VIA MOBILE" apps like Pandora. This means you can use your phone's data plan to , say, stream Pandora not the vehicles 3G. And now remote start/lock/unlock works over the internet. It's great to able to start the car from my mobile phone on these cold...- loopless

[HOW TO] Update Uconnect RA3/RA4 Software
I updated my 1500 last night. It takes a number of minutes to recognize the .ISO on the USB stick. I would make sure no other files (MP3?) are on the stick. Just hang in there. Then the update is probably 45 minutes long. You can actually drive the vehicle while it is updating, just don't turn...- loopless

1500 QC Unstable under braking...
The exact cause of the problem was the "hydraulic control unit". This controls hydraulics to brakes and the stability control. Yikes ! I was lucky not to fly off into the weeds. Needless to say the truck will out of action for 3 days as this part is not something the dealer had in stock and... -

I have a 2013 4WD outdoorsman Quad-Cab with the 5.7. Under 'heavy braking' - not 'panic braking' - from e.g. 70mph-30mph ( say traffic suddenly slowing on freeway), the rear end of the truck gets feels scarily unstable, like the rear end would swap with the front if the ESC was not intervening...
