New to diesel..cold weather questions.

I live in Canada and don't plug it in until it gets around -15C (5F) I do run Hotshot additive every tank, so far no cold front. I may get one of toss some cardboard behind the grill. I only plug it in the night before if I remember, or a few hours before I need to warm the ***** up. Where I am...

New to diesel, looking for general tips.

I live in Canada and I only plug it in the night before I go anywhere, thats overkill. You only really need a few hours before you start the truck when plugged in. I dont even bother to plug mine in until its at least 10F. 40F is still Tee shirt weather. Just make sure your batteries are good...

Does a cold air intake actually offer any horse power to a diesel?

I gutted my stock intake and run a 4 inch wix filter in the stock house. Love it, great filtration. The only CAI I would look at is a S&B as its a sealed unit. Only benefit would be a cleaner engine bay. Grid heater is only for starting in cold temps. Like glow plugs.

    88 D250 360 issue

So I checked the vacuum lines and saw that one was unplugged, plugged it in and vroom! Idles nice and good response! I also put some sea foam in the tank to try and clean everything up as well as cleaned the carb. Now we will see once I take it back out. I drove it around for 15 mins and it...

    88 D250 360 issue

Cap and rotor look fine, the only corrosion is on the battery terminals. The negative terminal is also slightly loose and I have to move it sometimes to get it to start

    88 D250 360 issue

Hey everyone, I have a 1988 dodge d250 with a stock 360 (carbed) and the other day I went out camping and it drove perfect. Once I went to come home (40 min drive through hills) it started to sputter, loss of power and even stalled. After a few minutes it started right up and idled fine expect...

    88 d250 tf 727

Ok I'll try that. It looks like the speedo cable goes into a box then another cable comes out into the dash, I guess I'll test both of them

    88 d250 tf 727

Found it thanks! That connected only has 4 inch of play and doesn't come close to the brake proportioning valve. It's wired in the same harness as the NSS. Anyway to test the speedo cable?

    88 d250 tf 727

I didn't think it was but I'm unsure haha. Where abouts does that plug into? Also the speedo isn't working, everything is connected. Could it be the speedo gear in the trans?

    88 d250 tf 727

So I got a 88 d250 (2wd) S/C 360 gas with a TF727 and there is an extra wire which I can't find on any forum or the internet. It comes off of the NSS and I have no clue on where it goes. Truck runs and shifts fine but the speedo doesn't work [/IMG]

Ac cramped out and saw this

After I took my belt off last night and ac pulley almost fell off, a good inch or so play each way! My wife saved my but!, I'm still going to keep a close eye on it for a while just to play it safe. It ran fine for me this morning, no grinding, no smells, so time will tell. I'm going to pull the...

Ac cramped out and saw this

Well I got to Edmonton and my wife drove me up a new to me compressor from a auto wreckers, looks to be in good shape. I swapped it out last night and only took 30 mins start to finish, put some freon in and ran some cycles to make sure it was good. All in all it worked out good for $200. Now to...

    About to get new truck

Hey I'm ready to buy self a new truck. I've been looking at the 2012 Laramie diesels, or an slt with some options. Just wondering if there is anything I need to look out for when looking at them? I do like the fact the they do not have Def. And I would be ripping off all emissions once I buy one.
