I am emailing them now. First response from them wasn't much help. I was told the provided separate sleeves needed to be pressed in the shocks....even though the fox shocks come with sleeves already in them. Hopefully I can get this resolved asap. I don't like having the stock shocks in since...
Yes, there is a metal sleeve in the shock which is pressed in just like on the stock and maxtrac shocks. I ended up putting in the stock shock, sucks! I emailed Maxtrac so I'll have to wait to talk to them tomorrow.
I am currently in the process of installing the 4.5" spindle lift with fox shocks on a 2017 Ram 1500 2wd. The rear fox shocks do not work with the stock bolts for the shock. The stock bolts are too big to even fit in the shock sleeves. Not even a hammer would get these bolts through the shock...
It was an absolute nightmare putting it all together. What stumped me even more was watching a video of the coils being installed like nothing while I was going through hell. Lol
Will the alignment help with the UCA's hitting the coil bucket? Or will that be an issue no matter what with stock UCA's? If it is going to be an issue still then I'll just take them out and do the 4.5" spindle. Thanks for the help.
No alignment yet. I told my dad to hold off until we figure out what's going on. I didn't think an alignment would fix the crazy angle of the control arm, but I don't completely understand the technical details of an alignment either lol
Thank you for chiming in. How about for the tire angle? The tops of them are pointing out which follows the angle of the control arms. I'm surprised I haven't came across these issues before when reading up on it. Plenty of guys on here have installed these and never heard of any issues. If I...
I installed 2.5" Maxtrac coils and fox shocks on my Dad's 2017 1500. First off, I went through hell just to get the coils in. It was as if the coils were too long. I had to push down on the lower control arm, more so stand on the lower control arm just to get the coil in. I put the coil in the...
I finally got the KM3's on Friday. First impressions are great! Smooth and quiet. Height wise I can't tell a difference, but I'm pretty sure they measure .2" shorter than the STT. Width wise they are definitely narrower which I'm completely fine with since I NO LONGER HAVE ANY RUBBING! I now...
Thank you for that! Definitely a good read. I sure hope its not related to any suspension parts, but if it is I wouldn't be too mad if it forces me to upgrade to some Thuren goodies. lol
Thanks for the input guys. I went to Discount this afternoon and had them order me up some BFG KM3's. I've been hearing that coopers are a hit or miss as far as having issues with them so I didnt feel like taking that chance again. Plus I'm only having to pay an additional $160 for the KM3's...
Finally got around to get the broken stud repaired as well as the front end checked out. Alignment was good. Steering wheel was a little off, but they said nothing to cause the shaking and right pull. I still have the shake and pull to the right so back to Discount I go for new tires. Now the...
Thanks for the input. I'm going to go over the suspension components. If nothing seems wrong then I'll definitely get something different.
34k miles
Discount already asked me if I wanted to try a different tire, but I didn't want to jump the gun because I will most likely end up with Toyo...
I was starting to think that it could be something in the suspension. I'll have to check that out as well. I'll get this stud fixed first (hopefully tomorrow), then go to inspecting the suspension components.
I'm sure its a lot more weight. You really think that can throw it off and cause shake? I may need to get that fixed before I end up taking these tires back and spending 400-500 more on some Nittos or Toyos.
Yes, one stud and one lug nut. They don't do those repairs. They sent me over to a shop down the street and they would fix it for free (obviously). I called the shop about it and they said I need to be prepared to leave my truck for the whole day. Ridiculous! So I haven't had a full day to waste...
Well discount did snap off a stud on the front right, but I don't see that causing the shake. Especially when there's still 7 lug nuts tightened up. It really has been a pain in the ass, but I appreciate your help though!
Definitely in the steering wheel. I know the typical vibration that these big MT's cause throughout the truck but this is an annoying steering wheel shake.
I had 33" Ironman AT's that were brand new that came with the truck. I only had them on for a month or so. I'm trying to think back if it pulled back then and it might have had a slight pull with those tires too, but nothing compared to now. The pull is one thing but the shake is another. Every...
I agree. I did a ton of research on these tires before buying them. Seemed like there were plenty of guys running them on specifically 2500's with no issues.
I have heard plenty of good things about that Nitto and equivalent Toyo, but I want a more aggressive tire like the Nitto Trail Grappler or Toyo Open Country.
