    Could be the broken exhaust manifold bolts that you know your truck has. When engine warms up, the seal may expand and it'll stop making sound, but if you accelerate, maybe it continues to leak under load. Or maybe more bolts are starting to break under load etc... Could be anything really...

    Depends where you're located... $11k to replace cam, lifters, water pump from a reputable shop. In SF, CA There's also a risk of cam and lifters not work well if mechanic isn't experienced in this particular job I decided not to do it... And got new truck instead.

    Jasper has mixed reviews from what I saw. Some are not good. Again, it's a lot of risk to do this job for shops, and they want to cover themselves, and get good engine, with good warranty. Otherwise they can make more money on easy brake jobs... I get that other trucks may have issues too...

    I would hope you don't try using 15w 40 oil. I'm not sure what this may do... Do you still have your old dirty 0w40 oil that you drained? If yes then just use the 5qt of new oil and rest just put in your old oil, at least this won't harm anything... As far as your engine noise, it should be...

    Best advise you can give to your dad is not to mess with the truck, enjoy it, and cruise it around. It's not slow with a hemi as is. When you start messing with it, bad things can happen, which aren't good for wallet or retirement. And could easily void warranty too
