On the fence on which gears to go with

RAM screwed up with the 66RFE. They just used the same gears from the 68RFE. Great for a Cummins, but not even close for a Hemi. With my 4.10s I’m still under 2K RPMs cruising at 75MPH. The 6.4 doesn’t even come on until about 2300RPMs. It’s a heavy duty truck. It should be geared to tow a heavy...

On the fence on which gears to go with

Said by someone who has never towed heavy with a 6-speed 6.4 with 4.10s. I was originally thinking 4.56, but it’s not enough difference from the 4.10 to be worth the cost. If I do it’ll be 4.88s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Towing Questions

The payload capacity on them is miserably low too. You’re not going to increase mileage that much. You may creep into double digits, but it’s not going to shoot up to 15 or anything miraculous. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Time for brakes

I went with the PowerStops for a couple reasons. 1. I’ve had them on previous vehicles and loved them 2. I had Amazon points, and they could get them here the fastest. The fronts had a little more life left in them, but I replaced them since I was already there. My rears weren’t in good...

    Time for brakes

At 96K my 2500 is ready for brakes. Obviously the OEM brakes work fine to get nearly 100K out of them, but they were obnoxiously loud their whole life. Any recommendations for replacements? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Lifters, extended idle times, oil

I’m at 96K on my original lifters. Idling for me consists of remote starting the truck when it’s really cold, and before I hook up to a trailer to make sure everything is warmed up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

gas mileage reduction when pulling trailer

50-70% is about right for a gas powered engine. It will be very dependent on terrain, speed, wind, and traffic. Most of us are happy to reach double digits while towing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Which are the most comfortable/adjustable seats possible?

The Laramie seats have lots of adjustability(driver does anyway), but they will be leather and heated(and possibly cooled). A Big Horn could have 8-way seat depending on the package it was equipped with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Towing 5th wheel with a 2500

Leverage. When you drop a trailer on a ball the rear axle gets heavier, and the front lighter. Put 1400 LBs just in front of the rear axle, the load gets shared. It’s also a toy hauler, and the pin weight actually decreases as I fill tanks and load toys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Towing 5th wheel with a 2500

No way. Mine is too tall. Even with the 2300lb dry pin weight I still have rake, and the trailer is nose high. It tow fine other than I can’t get enough clearance, and the pin box is taking small chips out of the tailgate. Mine is a 6.4 with 4.10s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Looking at our 1st TT

First and foremost you need to pack the truck for travel including the family, fill the tank, and run across a scale. The truck GVWR minus what the scale reads is your available payload. Hint, you probably aren’t going to be able to carry anything in the bed of the truck. Second, those...
