    steering issue too much play

Some of the weird issues with steering boxes I've found is people run the same power steering fluid for years and years till there is debris built up in the system causing wear to parts. Then the boxes don't seems to last as long. Plus larger tires tend to add stress to already limited steering...

    Strange heater issue

Vacuum issues? If the vacuum is fading away it will flip to DEF mode and the vents will die. Then when the vacuum get strong again then it returns back to vents. You might look for vacuum leaks typically I find the cruise control vacuum motor with holes or a vacuum line with a crack in it.

    Code P0336 Crankshaft position sensor??

Yea... It just a wore out sensor. I would go to local part store and pick up a new crank sensor. You have to pull the starter to replace the sensor though. Typically I can knock it out in about 20 minutes.

    P0216 & p1693...

P0216 code is a wear issue of the timing piston. Kind of like this... This one was nearly seized tight in the bore.

VP44 problems - Getting tired of the BS!

Another update to this I found that bad alternators can and will causes P1688, P1689, and a few other failures of the VP44. So there is more to watch over to protecting your VP44.

Winter is coming - Need a high idle kit?

I wish I could. For me to buy supplies to build then I've got a long ways to drive now being the local stores have closed. I'm trying to get people to build them again but just haven't seen anyone do it.

Any engine lights with you cai?

Best to just pull the codes and know what's wrong than to wish it would all go away. Personally I'm not to fond of K&N filters.

    When buying a cummins 12v or 24v?

Personally I say the 24V. The engine is totally bullet proof too just there is electronics involved which is great because it make diagnostic so much easier than guessin' the 12V's. Then the 12V p7100 pump might be bullet proof but doesn't have any dynamic timing like VE or VP44 pumps. So range...

truck acting up on start up

Personally sound like a air leak issues and being you might have the nose down in some cases and nose up in others. Which nose down it will start every time where nose up it might be drawing air in.

    Additives and Oil.

I tend to stay away from PowerService or any fuel injection cleaner, cetane booster, anti-gel... No matter how you want to slice it cetane booster reduces BTU's and reduces MPG's Not to mention how picky the fuel system is for HFRR scoring these day it doesn't take much to ruin good lubricity...

    H&S Press Release- DPF/EGR Removal

Just get a 89 to 02 Dodge and not worry... Easy to modify and power galore... 12V's need a box of wrenches to make power. 24V's just need to plug in the box and adjust. No smog device to yank off. I already open carry when I'm travelling... :shooter:

    towing woes

Looks like the 3rd gens are a bit soft in the springs dept. Comparing that to my 2nd gen it seem flat less bow to the springs, no overloads springs, no rubber pads between the support leaf and the main deck. By chance Stangshcky12 your bed was empty correct?

I agree too. I would compare to other like model trucks to see what's different.

Actually the truck in that picture does that daily and has over 1.2 MILLION miles on the clock hauling boats cross country.

    towing woes

I would of turn the truck around on the trailer and put it on backwards putting most of the weight over the trailer axles. Truck squat is a sign that the trailer is overloaded or truck is overloaded. Once again you want to have about 12-15% of gross trailer weight in the tongue. Still fairly...

    towing woes

Actually its all so common where people toss levelling kits, suspension changes, and oversized tires and expect the truck to perform just the same. Sorry it doesn't work that way. Every change you do to the truck changes geometry one way or another. Just the simple hitching up a trailer will...

    towing woes

Tongue weight, tire inflation, weight distribution hitch setup, etc. All of these have a roll in how stability of the truck. Like for example my RV has a 50 gallon water tank at the very rear of the trailer. That's a 430 pounds at the trailer bumper making the tongue lighter. With too much...

Cummins TurboDiesel: Is it true you either use it or you lose it?

If the outside temp is above 32*F I don't even wait I nail and go. Grid heater are not needed for every start. Even a cold start I just hit the starter and go. I know a 24V will start without grid heaters to as low as 25*F outside. Little stumble miss but it will start.
