Good question. Most of the time it's just my forgetfulness and starting the truck in the morning realizing I'm way lower than I thought. I do try to avoid letting it get super low typically.
I believe I've narrowed it down to the float not reading accurately anymore. Obviously that's an...
Sorry guys for the delay. I never got notified I had replies. Lol
I continue to only get around 23 gallons, give or take. I'm starting to wonder if the float is bad and that's why it appears to be low. I haven't tested filling up from a gas can after the pump manually shuts off, that'll...
Anyone have any ideas on why my truck isn't taking a full tank of gas?
It's been topping out at 23 gallons the last 3 fill ups - and I know this isn't full because my fuel gauge isn't as high as it normally is and all 3 have been with the fuel light on. Also noticed my gas mileage has gotten...
I was a little hesitant that the wind would catch it and rip it right out - but all good here. I put it in dry, no sealant or adhesive or anything like that. Seems to work fine and easy enough to remove or replace if necessary. It compresses pretty easily to the thickness needed to seal the door...
This seal. If you run your fingers from the roof towards the door seal you’ll hit the seal you pull back. Just put the backer rod behind it.
You can see mine is pretty compressed in there, but several trips going 85 MPH for 5 hours straight and the wind noise is gone. Hope these help...
What do you mean pulling it?
Are you pulling it into the other seal? If so, just put it behind the other seal, if that makes sense. It just tucks behind it.
If you need a picture of what I mean, let me know and I'll snap one.
I'm not sure if there is a technical term for that style of step, but the side steps are making it look like it has more rake than it does.
I noticed the exact same thing on my 08 with tubular steps. Once I pulled them off, I don't notice it anymore.
Also worth noting that a level kit is...
If your area is anything like mine, used trucks are in high demand right now. According to KBB my truck is worth what I paid for it 5 years ago.
I'd want to see proof of the rebuild (like a receipt) before I took anyone's word on it.
I did think about cutting them and doing it that way, however I was trying to install it in a way that it can be reversed if necessary.
I guess the hard plastic hose is cheap enough to replace it if I do cut it and ever want to reverse it. Or using a rubber hose from pcv to intake again...
Looking for some opinions or advice on a catch can for a 2008+ 4.7. I read through the other thread regarding 4.7 catch cans, but the set up is a little different on a 2008.
The tube that runs from the PCV to the intake is this part #: 53032856AB. I took it off and both sides look the exact...
Tested the solenoid and it appeared to be sealed.
Unfortunately my DIY smoke tester wasn't putting off quite enough smoke for long enough to do the whole system, so I'm back to the drawing board on a smoke tester. I pulled the ESIM off and the seal didn't look the best, so I went ahead and...
Might as well test it while I have the tester out and smoking so I’ll go ahead and try.
Which side of the purge valve should I hook up to test? The bottom or the side connector?
Thanks for the help and advice!

Does it matter which hose I hook the smoke tester into? I assume either one will do accomplish the same thing.
The purge solenoid is new so not worried about testing that.

Got the P0456 code again and I'm at the point of building a smoke tester to smoke the evap system to find supposed leak.
Where should I pump the smoke into the system at? Anything I should block off during the test? The truck is an 2008 with the 4.7, if it makes a difference.
Thanks!
Foam backer rod inserted behind the door seal in my 08 did wonders for wind noise. I believe I used 5/8” rod. There’s another thread on it on the forum if you search for it

Only noticed it one time on the road (quick puff under heavy acceleration) and nothing since. I haven’t noticed anything on the garage floor lately, but I am curious now that the check engine light reappeared if it will spit some again on start up.
I know the truck does burn some oil(not a...
Got it, but it is still something to check as that is something that I swapped out right before the puffing started. That and the tuner went on about the same time and I still noticed some puffing after disabling the tuner for a while. Doesn’t hurt to check since I think I have another filter...
P0456 code is back today. Just so happens it is right after I re-tuned the truck.
Starting to think my truck just does not like the MileageXS tune lol.
About to put the tuner back on.
Quick question: What tire pressure should I be running (manufacturer recommended pressure), 08 1500 quad cab with 275/60R20’s. Generally I’d check the door sticker, but was in an accident several years ago and they replaced the door and did not replace the...
Got the truck all reassembled the other day. Looks so much better. Also detailed the truck while the seats were out.
Now time to detail the outside. Have some chemicals coming, trying to make the truck look as good as possible without polishing the paint as I’m too lazy for all that.
