The tunes are PN specific, but if you are using a PCM for the correct make/model/year vehicle....it should be the same as previous. SCT X4 thoughts....
As Matt stated, the canned tunes are not going to give the same gains as even a base tune from any of the typical tuners for these trucks. My canned tune resulted in a 25 whp/35 wtq gain from 4200-6200 (can't dyno lower with the 8 spd). Gains will be comparable on the earlier trucks.- Flyinryan

Almost identical results. The airgap makes a hair bit more tq down low , M1 makes a hair more above 5500. It's such a negligible difference that i wouldn't use one over the other. Both work well. You'll need an updated canned tune to run either.- Flyinryan

The biggest thing when it comes to swapping manifolds is retuning. The low end loss is somewhat negligible , at least in a 360, after reprogramming. We picked up 20 whp and 42 wtq with no other changes other than a FRP Airgap Flash.- Flyinryan

Why tune with FRP?
Some of you may be overwhelmed when seeking out a performance tune for your truck. Lots of opinions, lots of arguing, not much in the way of clear data. NGK BKR6E plugs, that iridium crap doesn't work right on these. Stick to copper. Stock ignition is fine. Those aftermarket ignition upgrades are next to useless. My canned tunes make a pretty substantial difference and would still allow you to add minor modifications after the fact.- Flyinryan

Best daily camshaft
I don't recommend swapping cams due to cost for gains, but if you're in there for lifters, a Greene Racing cam or the 214/218 Modern Muscle will be fine. The latter did 381 whp in a 5.7 LX car with bolt ons through 3.09 gears. In a 8 spd truck I'd expect this to be closer to 400 whp because of...- Flyinryan

I will likely never buy Diablo software. There is no incentive for me to do so, nor do I care to have yet another form of software/hardware to support and stock. It gets very expensive to do so, when any vehicle that is Diablo tuned that I retuned ends up getting re-tuned with HPTuners anyways...- Flyinryan

Because HPTuners interfaces are not brand specific like SCT and some of the Diablo devices, many people already have them for other vehicles.
