    Building a motor for fun?

I'll check into it, thank you. Ideally I'd do research this winter, collect parts over summer, get the machining done maybe this summer as well, then hopefully assemble and install next winter. I keep myself pretty busy in the summer but I haven't had any winter toys for a few years now and I...

    5.7 based 397 stroker Build

Wow, I would have thought just putting that motor in the single cab would have made a huge difference. Before you started did you ever think to sell one of the 5.7's and build from a 6.4 block for the regular cab? Did you always plan on boost? What made you go pro charger over a super or turbo...

    Building a motor for fun?

By cheap I mean "less expensive" lol. I appreciate the info, can't get enough research material.

What made you decide to go this route? Feel free to share as much as you want, I love this kinda stuff.

    Building a motor for fun?

Right? I think there is enough information out there that if you took your time you could make it happen. Beats playing video games all winter.

    Building a motor for fun?

How does the initial cost and cost of parts compare between the 5.7 and the 6.4? I had just assumed 5.7 because there have got to be millions of them in junk yards and parts/tuners will be more available and cheaper.

    Building a motor for fun?

Something that's been in my head for a while now. Looking at buying a house out in the boonies, when that happens I'll also be buying some eco-box little SUV for commuting. Truck will be regulated to days off, truck stuff, and towing the boat. I've got it in my head to pick up a junkyard hemi...

I wanna go fast, but I've got a 5 speed.

Alright one more question since I've got y'all here. Superchargers, where can I learn more about adding them to a 4th or maybe a 5th gen? What's involved and what are the supporting mods?

I wanna go fast, but I've got a 5 speed.

I get ya, I keep on eye on truck prices just because and have seen several very nice sports, Laramies, and Longhorns with the 3.92. Sounds like I've got a year or so to do some research. Lurk around the 5th gen forum and see how their performance mods go. So far I'm torn between an 18 sport...

I wanna go fast, but I've got a 5 speed.

Alright, let me throw out some of the things that have been bouncing around my head between the last few months and today. Let me know what you think. Hopefully in the next few days/weeks I some kind of game plan. 1.)Gears and trans mods fast 69 suggested, leave everything else alone. Sounds...

I wanna go fast, but I've got a 5 speed.

That is exactly why I'm asking you guys because that was my 2nd train of thought. Buy a block and maybe even a trans, take my time and put it together during the summer. That option though would more than likely mean I would wait until I buy a new truck in a year or so and get a little crazier.

I wanna go fast, but I've got a 5 speed.

What motor mods would you do after gears and trans upgrades? Standard cam/lifters/headers/tb/tune? At what point do we get out of the realm of reality for a daily driver?

I wanna go fast, but I've got a 5 speed.

You gotta read better. Those were two seperate questions. 1.) What's towing going to be like with 4.56's? 2.) What can I expect to happen to mileage? I already average around 9mpg towing, that's life. What I don't want is 9mpg empty. Thanks for stopping by though.

I wanna go fast, but I've got a 5 speed.

Thanks Fast, exactly what I'm looking for. I'm surprised to see gears go 2/2 so far. I just assumed having a rcsb with 3.92's it's something I wouldn't have to worry about. Doing everything you mentioned, what would you then do to the motor? Also, going to 4.56 what should I expect when...

    Single to Dual Exhaust Help

I run a si/so carven AR1 - y pipe - no res - 4x16" black tips at 45° If you're gonna spend the money, why do it to look like 90% of the other rams on the road? Excuse the messy garage, it was the change of the season.

I wanna go fast, but I've got a 5 speed.

A 5 speed and 97k miles. I've always drove old gm trucks (94 or older), and switched to Ram years ago. I did about two minutes of research when I first bought this truck and immediately learned the 5 speed trucks can't handle power, so I stopped looking. Now she's pushing 100k and with no...

*DEAL* Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT LT275/65R20

Lol it's got em, set at 2.1. Made the truck almost level. Then I added tufftruck springs to the back to help dragging the boat around. To be fair to my truck, it doesn't sit that raked on flat ground. I just take pictures at odd times.

if you had to upgrade your truck....

I'm going to wait and see how the new 7.3 gas motor in the F250's does. With all the gov BS on new diesels, the looks of the 5th gen rams, and Chevy's continued garbage interiors my options are pretty limited.

Poll- Would you buy a Ram again??

I'd buy another 4th gen. At the very least wait and see what the 6th gens are like.
