Finally got around to vinyl wrapping my driver's door.
It's the shade is slightly off but it looks a lot better than an all black door on a silver ram.
Today I "repaired the dent in the bed side of my Ram.
Tomorrow morning I will be giving my Ram a bath to get the road salt and grime. I will also be degreasing the replacement door to prepare it to be wrapped on Monday.
I found a color matched door and will be picking it up on Saturday.
There was no chance to save the original drivers door on my truck. The impact bent more than just the door skin.
Honestly I don't know. But one of the techs I work with does go to them often. I'll have to ask him on Tuesday.
Quick Edit: I did find a swap meet/Auto flea market next weekend about an hour and a half from me.
No I messaged the regarding the specific part/parts I was looking for. I never just send the generic message.
The color matched I don't expect to hear anything until Monday or Tuesday as it is a Tow Yard and they aren't open to pull parts on the weekend. The other one I am hoping to hear...
I've found a few people parting out their rams near me. I found a color marched door in Philly and a white door closer to me. I'm just waiting for the sellers to respond if the doors are still available.
My plan for tomorrow is to search the local yards for replacement doors (thankfully there are 5 yards within 15 minutes of me) and call my body shop to see about stopping in for a quote.
And when I go back to work on Tuesday I'm going to check with our body work tech to see if he has any...
My deductible is $1000. The body shop I use charges less if they do not have to deal with insurance and I plan to use them for more work to repair damage done to my Ram before I purchased it.
The plan is that if I can find a door in decent shape I will pull it from the yard even if the color doesn't match. I will have it repainted if necessary.
I'm planning to replace the door with a color marched if I can find one tomorrow. For the dent in the bed I'm also going to call the body shop I used for my moms van to see if he can pull it.
I do have full coverage, but the deductible is more than the repair would cost.
I just need to get the dents to a decent point. I plan to have my Ram in a body shop later this year to get some other work done on it.
On my drive home from the drug store this evening I managed to miss the first deer... But the next two slammed head long into the side of my Ram.
I'm planning to attempt to pull the dents tomorrow.
I missed the first deer by slamming on the brakes. But I had two deer slam head long into the drivers side of my Ram. One hit the drivers door the other hit the bed.
I plan to try and pull the dents out tomorrow.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Used my ram to tow a trailer loaded with my shop carts to my new job. I haven't officially worked as a mechanic since late 2019 but starting this Monday I'll be back at it in a new shop.
