    Junk tranny?

man, I'm so tired of all the whining. I want a thread like this to come up with solutions, instead of just endless generalization's and pointless complaining.

Just heard - Recall for Rams that may roll away after being parked

in every reported case, driver failed to engage parking brake. This procedure was included in owners manual, and in a subsequent letter to each owner. IIRC the actor was killed at 2:30 AM, curiously around bar closing time, just sayin'.

Hello, new member, first post with some questions.

if you are really worried about dash cracking, get tinted glass, and maybe add an aftermarket dash mat

    Holy Crap, they're HUGE!

I wonder if it isn't a Fiat thing, because I was behind a new Fiat 500, and the numbers and emblem are outsize on it, also.

    Anyone have similar issues?

could it just be a neutral start switch ?

    Holy Crap, they're HUGE!

Saw a new 1500, this morning. You guys weren't kidding, the RAM letters on the tailgate are huge! I guess the kindest thing to say is that they are very disproportionate sized badging. LOL.

    Water in Sill

my 76 w200 had a rear slider, which leaked, but I never noticed it until it was kinda too late. It had a really nice jute backed HD oem rubber floor mat. The drip was only like one drop every 30 sec or so, but it was enough to soak the jute backing. The rubber held that moisture against the...

    (Dashcam) Ecoboost Meets Ram

I can't say positively that that is the case, but if that is true I whole heartedly agree. I had an Intrepid with the mopar/mitsubishi 2.7L dohc. Marvelous engine, BUT it has a similar design, re fatal flaw. Like poster said the water pump is internal, meaning it is buried under a sealed cover...

the only way I know to positively check the thermostat is to remove it. put in a pan of water on the stove top, and slowly heat the water up to near boiling. You monitor the temp with a good thermometer and check to make sure it is opening at the temp stamped on the tstat. When you reinstall...

    Traction light won't shut off

isn't traction control related to ABS? Maybe you should be checking your brakes, brake fluid.

1984 D150 fender mounted boxes are melting

it's hard for my old eyes to see, but the black box looks like an electronic voltage regulator. On cars, they are usually mounted on the firewall, right side of center. Is there a vacuum advance pot on the distributor? In the distributor is there just one pickup? Is there a lean burn computer...

Help looking for secondary fuel tank 76 W200 Power wagon

the control for the electric diverter valve is a push/pull knob on the dash below steering wheel I think. I don't think it has any identifying label IIRC. my memory is a little fuzzy on this because I haven't driven it in 15 or 20 years, and I've slept in the meantime.

Help looking for secondary fuel tank 76 W200 Power wagon

my 76 w200 power wagon reg cab, long box had the big plastic tank on the drivers side, the auxiliary tank was metal and behind the seat, the electric switch/valve was below the right rear corner of the cab IIRC. There was no extra tank on the right side, but I did have an optional tool storage...

    Important info on sausec17

if the US Postal Service was involved, it would be a federal offense. Years ago, a friend of mine bought a shaker hood setup for an e-body from somebody in the midwest. When he opened up the shipping crate, it was just a bunch of worn out scrap auto parts. He notified the postal inspector, and...

    Battery Warmers

the best you could do is insulate just one of a pair of identical new batteries. and see if there is any difference in lifespan. Theoretically, the insulation should help, but I'd prefer to see proof positive.

I agree with Wolfie. You can bypass the heater core, temporarily. I'd try a piece of soft copper pipe, and connect the in and out heater hoses, on the engine side of the heater control valve. Then see if the hoses are getting hot. If they are still barely warm, I'd look to the thermostat, and...

    Idle Hours?

I have more than several used police, State DOT, vehicles. I am sure they have a relatively large proportion of idle hours on them. Some are over 300k, or very close to it. The worst of them don't burn any more than a qt or two of oil in 5k miles. My thinking the whole idling thing is...

    Transmission feels sluggish

are your brakes dragging? If you don't have wheel covers, you can pull over after getting off the freeway, and feel the wheel hubs. they shouldn't be too hot, and all should feel about the same temp. If you have an infrared temp gun, you could get a more precise sense of temp.

    Found a leak

it's not just a Dodge problem. We had a new Chevrolet truck at work with same issue. I've heard some Furds have same problem. For the people that a new gasket doesn't fix it, could the water be wicking down the theads of the fastener screws? maybe try a little sealant on the screw threads.
