    Water pump install

Installing a new water pump and not at my house the copy of the service manual. Does the pump gasket get sealant when installing? I personally don't like RTV, but wanted to know what the service manual says. Anything else I should know when going back together? Thanks!

    Rust Buckets

Thanks for all the input regarding the potential for rust problems. I need a new(er) truck and I'm considering a Ford or Ram 3/4 ton. Neither of are slam dunks. I will probably run it til falls apart or completely dies. I just want the longest laster with the least amount of problems. Sent...

    Rust Buckets

Not trying to troll. I'm being serious. In need of a newer truck. I like Rams but don't want something that will start rusting out prematurely. As for an aluminum bed, would want one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Mild gas leak

Good thing Dodge put it where it's at! Did you observe it when there pressure on the system to definitively identify the leak. Could be the fitting itself and not the hose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Brake Lines

I had my annual vehicle inspection this week and my truck flunked with flying colors. The brake lines at the master cylinder were an issue. I did some parts searching and It appears as if the brake lines come as a kit that includes all of the lines. I have a few questions. First, how do I...

    Transmission mating surface damage, help

I would say if you want to use sealant, use a gasket and a non-hardening sealant such as Yamabond-4 or Hylomar. I don't think RTV or similar silicone sealants are a good option unless it is speced by the manufacture. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    5.9 into a 5.2

What size tires are on your truck? When I bought my truck, it had the same 20 inch wheels as yours. I don't particularly care for them, but I'm going to have to put new tires on soon. Thinking of selling the wheels and going back to 17s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New 1500 2wd steering box?

Red Head prices have gone up significantly in the last 6 months. Used to be ~350 +core. Probably better off getting a Borg box. Red Head or Borg, otherwise you'll just continue with junk. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Vehicle problems Stalling Dying.

I agree with Joe, you should probably take it to a shop. I can certainly appreciate you trying to learn and take care of this problem, but it sounds like you might be in a bit over your head. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Questions about a 1999 4x4 Quad cab with 360

Check the steering system as well. Ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm, drag link, etc. These items may not be a deal breaker for you, but they might be items that need to be replaced to tighten up the steering system. And, it may be a negotiation point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Hood scoop question

To me it looks like it might buckle or ripple in the front because it looks like it isn't sitting flush to the nose of the hood. Probably want to start at the back and work your way toward the front. If you know anyone that has clecos, they would come in handy to fit the scoop before permanent...

    Drum Brakes.............

Take a couple of pictures of the breaks with your phone and take a good long look at them for visual reference before disassembling. It's been awhile since I've done rear brakes, but make sure your cylinders are compressed and the brakes are properly seated before installing the drum. As for...

Just got new tool chest, now need tools!

You're certainly going to pay more for quality tools. But, one thing that I found is, with quality you get comfort. Quality tools are usually more comfortable in your hand. I haven't bought many tools in the past 10 years because I'm no longer turning wrench daily. I have Snap-On, Mac...

    Stock & wheels

Some clown put 20s on my truck before I bought it and I hate em!! They might be better if the truck was lifted and had larger tires with more side wall. When I get new tires, I'll be going back to 17s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
