Agreed on the mild aftermarket upgrade. Donno how much shipping would be, but I literally just finished using my stock muffler & manifolds to help flatten some plywood. Other than using as weights, they're useless to me
The older axles have the shim between pinion head & big bearing. The newer ones have the shim between the big bearing race & diff housing. I believe they switched with the change over to the ZF axle.
Those ratings would work for the majority of us here. Do the srt/hellcat valve bodies work in the trucks & not throw config codes? Is the valve body required for launch control when adding srt pages?
I believe I remember reading on wiki that the 8hp trans are only offered in 2 case designs (rwd & 4wd). At least during the DS/WK/LC/LA lifespan, may change with new chassis designs like WL. My theory is that a 8hp90 from a trackhawk or hellcat durango should be a direct bolt in cause those are...
Torque spec is 9 ft lbs. I checked mine a few times last year & they were always loose. Ended up finding the manifold gaskets had gotten folded over during a previous repair & causing an oil leak
I think it was Mazda that had a prototype engine a few years ago that could run on gas & diesel, auto switch between the two just like a E85 setup. Haven't heard anything on it since it was shown (don't remember if running). Can't remember if it was SEMA or one of the big auto shows.
To me, it...
This is why I want to see combustion engines live on & be further developed. There's so much untapped potential out there for efficiency & emissions to be improved upon. Unfortunately, as it seems right now, EPA & CAFE are gonna win and eventually imposing fines (my guess) on combustion engines...
I bet. Dragging my balls across a field of broken glass sounds more fun than that.
I used Mopar gaskets with my Kooks cause of the included heat shields. Took some persuasion for the shield to bend in place. Seems OK to me. I should probably check though...
I would go with what your cam manufacturer says to use. If they say a limiter is required, do it. If they say a lockout kit is required do it. I would not deviate from what they say. Spending the $500 (or however much a kit is) is well worth it. That's better than buying pistons & valves, or...
I have kooks 1 7/8" with cats, carven progressive & tips on a 6.4 swap. I've only noticed drone a few times & it's usually tolerable for me. But I've worked in a shop for almost 20 years, so my ears aren't as sensitive. If it's a bit much, a little more pedal while keeping the current gear works...
I did that for about 2 years. Cold starts we're a bit nice. Cruising & having fun not overly loud
To the right ears, might be able to tell it has headers. Overall, very underwhelming
If you ever think you'll pull the dipstick tube again, cut the lower mounting bolt down now ~1/4“. There is almost no room to get that bolt out & in with the mount in the way. I ended up tweaking my tube a bit to get it in with the headers. Took about an hour of trial & error. In the end, fits...
I doubt it with LTs. Only way I see it possible is if you take the entire front end off (radiator, rad support, condenser, grille) & put the engine in straight from the front. Not sure how tight it would be with shortys from the top.
I think it's doable by not disconnecting the a/c. May have to wait til the fan shroud is out to swing the compressor over. I'd hang it off the hood with a bungie cord if possible. Just be careful not to bend the aluminum part of the lines or snag the rubber.
Good info on the khaos adapter, just...
I can't really speak on that part as I did it a bit backwards. Engine 1st, then headers, & muffler w/ tips last. With a cam might be a bit much, but that part is subjective. Do you have a rough start up date?
