3.21 vs 3.92 Gear Ratio...will not be towing much.

Get the 3:21. I ordered 3.92 in 2016 and I like the way it drives, but I rarely get over 18mpg. I think I hit 20-21 once on a highway trip. A couple years ago, I rented an almost identical truck with 3:21s at the Denver airport for a trip to Moab UT. That truck never felt underpowered even at...

RAM Care said they are going to try and get a dealer buy back ?

Don't know why it wouldn't, since there's no difference between the cabs. There is no doubt that's where water was getting into mine. I could see it dripping in after the inside panel was removed. Look at my thread for pictures.

RAM Care said they are going to try and get a dealer buy back ?

My 2016 had a considerable leak that was easy to fix once I found it. The cabin flapper vents between cab and bed had no effective seals. I have a thread on here about it and it was an easy fix. Both sides (driver and passenger) leaked, but the driver side was worse. I think I was the first to...

Cabin water leak other than brake light or window

I think the seal is built into the vent, but it was too loose to do it's job.

Cabin water leak other than brake light or window

The vents came out very easily as they were very loose fitting. There wasn't any damage I could see to the plastic louvers or thin rubber flaps. The hardest part was getting them back in without smearing the bead of clear silicone around the perimeter. I think string and painters tape was used...

Cabin water leak other than brake light or window

Good news. We had heavy rain over the weekend while I was on vacation driving rental cars. Enough rain to leak into my basement, which is unusual. I just checked under my truck's back seat and it's bone dry.

Cabin water leak other than brake light or window

Since two out of two vents on my truck leaked heavily, I can't believe more people haven't had this.

Cabin water leak other than brake light or window

Spoiler: Cabin pressure vents I just wanted to share my experience so others may benefit. I had the not uncommon experience of finding wetness and surface rust under my rear seat. I very carefully resealed the third brake light. When I had it removed, I didn't see any signs of water getting...

    Rear Window Leak

So I found some rust and wetness under the driver side rear seat. I carefully resealed the 3rd brake light thinking that was the problem. We just had some significant rain and I remembered to check under the seat. It was very damp 12 plus hrs after the last rain and the seat bracket is rusty...

Bad experience with a body lift install in NJ

No-one cares as much about your truck/car/motorcycle as you do. Shops exist to make money and time is money. I hate leaving my truck with anyone and try to avoid it. I recently had my first warranty repair and it seems Ok so far, but I haven't crawled underneath to check things out yet. I...

    Excessive water in body mounts

I just went out and took a pick of the passenger front body mount just behind the bumper. It shows the weep hole I drilled that allows water to escape the area around the bolt shank. It has to be as close to the bolt flange as possible. When reinstalling the bolt, the hole has to be clocked...

    Excessive water in body mounts

I'm not removing the bolt to check it, but I'm confident that there isn't a puddle of water in that one anymore. I only drilled the one that I found the most water in (passenger front). I had a recurring click from the driver front mount until the last time I loosened and torqued it. I was...

    I Got Rearended Yesterday! :(

And another thing. The other insurance company will put you in a compact rental car. In my case, the other person's Ins. Co. was Progressive. The rental company (Enterprise) said the Ins. Co. would have to authorize anything different. I called Progressive and they asked if I used my truck for...

    I Got Rearended Yesterday! :(

Similar thing just happened to me in my 2016 Outdoorsman. I was rear-ended while stopped in traffic to get in the PA Farm show. A couple days ago, I picked up my truck from its week long stay at the body shop. The best advice I have is to take close up pictures before the repair and closely...

Suggestions sought for police dome light install

The township I live in recently got a Ram 1500 crew cab police truck. I went and checked it out on my way to Thanksgiving dinner. The dome light is further forward than I want above the center console. That said, there seems like an inch of upward play in my headliner where I want to put it on...

    Sugared Gas Tank

Looks like that genuine Mopar cap is made by Stant from the "S" in the picture. Stant #10508 works fine on my '16 Outdoorsman.

    Sugared Gas Tank

You can get a Stant locking gas cap (#10508) at most parts stores or online for a little over $10. It's the first thing I do on a new car without a locking fuel door. I keep the key on a long red "remove before flight" key chain in the slide out storage bin under center dash. I actually keep...

Suggestions sought for police dome light install

I also have first hand experience with the light, but in a 2017 Tahoe. That's how I know it would be perfect in my Ram. I found this video of the light mounting in a Charger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XhtigCvac0 . The hole definitely isn't round there, but I'm not sure if the universal...

Suggestions sought for police dome light install

I have a 2016 Outdoorsman crew cab. I often find myself sitting in the truck at night reading a book or magazine while waiting for the kids at various activities. The stock interior lights are poor and I have not upgraded to LEDs yet. For reading, it's better if the light source comes from...

    Excessive water in body mounts

I don't see that happening. What I do see is needing to loosen/tighten body bolts to solve noises like I already did, or me or the next owner deciding to install a body lift, and having the bolt snap off, or seize in the captured nut causing it to spin. The idea of small puddles of rusty water...

    Excessive water in body mounts

This afternoon, I removed the front mount bolt from the passenger side. It was wet, but not drowning. I put the big washer in a vise and drilled a 1/8 weep hole in it just outside the bolt flange diameter. When installed in the body mount, the bolt is not centered. The weep hole needs to be...

    Excessive water in body mounts

It's definitely not just me. Numerous threads about installing body lifts, nerf bars, or tightening loose bolts (after removing and reapplying loctite) include the dreaded rusty water dump. I imagine that the vast majority of owners never have a need to loosen those bolts and ignorance is bliss...

    Excessive water in body mounts

I'm not sure how to post a picture on this forum, but if you look under the truck, the cab (body) mounts are very obvious. There are eight under a crew cab where the cab is attached to the frame through a rubber cushion. Two are easily visible underneath the front door. The one I removed with...
