    I do try to take care of my trucks. But now I have a dented tailgate (from 5th wheel camper - **WHOOPS**), and a couple other dents in my bed from stuff moving when I didn't think it would do any damage. Truck beds are pretty flimsy now.

    You will overload the rear axle with a travel trailer long before you hit the max trailer weight. Even in my 3500 dually, I cannot hit max trailer weight with a 5th wheel trailer without going over rear axle rating. I can reach max weight with a gooseneck trailer loaded over the axles properly...

    The only way to hit gross trailer weight, without exceeding rear axle rating, is with a gooseneck equipment trailer properly loaded over the trailer axles. That was true for my 1500, 2500 and now my 3500.

    Why do you want a heavier tire? Do you me higher rated tire? And I would question the need for that as the E rated tires will exceed the FAWR.

    Nope. I have a dash camera. I will not attempt to avoid a brake checker, and possibly create other issues, when in my 3500 dually towing a 12K trailer.

    In NC, plating the truck for more than the truck rating does not change the GCVWR, GVWR or the payload of the truck. It merely pays the taxes on the weights specified. Everything else still applies. The fines for exceeding plated weights is usually more than the fines for being overloaded.
