What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

New turn signal/puddle lamps on the mirrors. We had a kamikaze bird literally destroy the passenger unit a few days ago. I ordered a pair of new ones off Amazon intending only to replace the broken passenger side but, once I compared the new to the old (see pics), I knew I had to do the...

2000 US Cargo Trailer Ramp Question

Grabbed two 36" lengths of flat stock steel at Lowe's this morning. Cut them to size, drilled the holes, painted and clear coated, and popped them on. They're perfect and look great. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction! About $15 total investment for what the trailer dealer wants...

2000 US Cargo Trailer Ramp Question

Annnd...facepalm. Now that you stated that, I can see it clearly in my head. Rather than try to order something, I'll just grab some flat stock from Lowe's and craft my own tomorrow. Huge thanks for jogging my rusty head!

2000 US Cargo Trailer Ramp Question

Hi, folks! Got a question that I can't find the answer to so thought maybe y'all could help me out.... I just picked up a near-mint condition 5'x8' trailer with ramp. It's a 2000 US Cargo. Near as I can tell, the only thing missing is a way to secure the ramp in a vertical position. I have had...

What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

Front-end rebuild on my '12 Big Horn. Bought the truck in June 2016 with 42k on it and she now has 140k and still had the stock suspension and chassis parts. Needless to say, the ride had become...less than ideal. I put in Bilstein 5100s at 2.8", Rough Country UCAs, Detroit Axle LCAs, tie rods...

    Airbag light??

I know this thread's been running for several years, but it came up in my search last night for this very issue. After reading these replies, I wanted to confirm that I, too, fixed my persistent airbag light by simply wiggling the wiring harness under the passenger seat. I haven't yet gotten...

Bilstein @ 2.8 with 295/65-20 General Grabber X3 Installed PICS

Looks great! I know a lot of guys prefer to drop the wheel size when going up in tire size, but I prefer the stock 20s. Also, @SAABseanSCANIA and @SeriousBlack: #603Represent!

    Fog light

Sylvania SilverStar zXe 9006 (engineered to rival HIDs as best as a traditional bulb can). Notice the very white beam pattern on the pavement from the fogs.... Keep in mind that any performance bulb - especially a coated one - is going to have a reduced life over a stock, un-coated bulb...

    Pulsing accelerator pedal???

Good to know! First Ram and haven't ever had a reason to dig into it. I'm reading some other discussions online with similar complaints. I'll figure it out - just need to take some time to get into things since I already know the dealership's gonna' be useless at helping me (despite my warranty).

    Pulsing accelerator pedal???

Thanks for the replies. It's definitely not a tire-wear issue. That's easy to discern through other indicators in the vehicle. It almost feels like some sort of mechanical feedback through the linkage and only noticeable when driving at a steady speed. Like I say, I've never experienced it...

    Pulsing accelerator pedal???

Hey, y'all. I've been noticing an issue with my accelerator pedal on my 2012 Big Horn. When cruising down the road at a fairly consistent speed - meaning not much variation in throttle pressure -, I feel a pulse in my pedal. I've never run into this before. Brakes and clutches, sure, all...

Folding Tonneau or a Cap (Topper/Shell)

I am a light-weight with my rig. I work full-time as a manufacturing manager and I run a commercial photography business on the side so I really make very little rough-duty use of my bed. Therefore, I didn't need to worry about how well a product will hold up to sustained abuse. This cover...

Folding Tonneau or a Cap (Topper/Shell)

I picked up the Tyger tri-fold tonneau from Amazon. $230 and easy installation. Has two metal clamps that hold it to the bottom of the bed rails and two plastic quick-release clamps that allow you to release the rear portion and fold it up towards the cab where it then latches in place...

    Shorty antenna

I have an AntennaX 13" model. Looks good and the reception is pretty decent - although I don't listen to regular radio very often so reception wasn't a big deal for me. Link: AntennaX 13" OffRoad Antenna for Ram 1500

    inverter

Technically correct. However, if somebody with absolutely no electrical experience comes along and reads a comment such as "I didn't bother with a fuse because it has one built into the unit" (paraphrasing), they could be left thinking that that's an acceptable installation practice. I mean...

    inverter

I installed this MSW (modified sine wave) inverter under the hood. Mounted it to the fusebox cover with a 125A ANL fuse installed inline to protect the circuit. Only needed the 500W for my needs but I'm now considering installing a larger PSW (pure sine wave) inverter in the bed to power my...

    Rear view mirror lights

Yup, auto-dimming mirror. The "light" on the right that doesn't light up isn't a light at all - it's the photo sensor that controls the dimming function. The light on the left just indicates whether the function is turned on or off.

    Camers issues

We'll need more info to help you figure this out. How did you wire in the camera - be very specific, please. It sounds like you have it wired to a switchable circuit that is interrupted when the engine is on. Are you using the stock camera or an aftermarket one? If stock, I don't believe...

    Nerf Bars Ram 1500

Is that just a rubber grommet? Or is it a metal bushing? If grommet, it'll just pop out. If it's a bushing, it should just be a press fit and you can either pop it out or drill it out, if necessary. You won't harm anything by doing so.

    Replacing shifter handle

The chrome trim piece on the bottom of the handle just slides down - it's basically a round clip. Use something plastic to separate it from the bottom of the handle so you don't damage it. Once you slide that down the shift rod, the handle just pops up and off.

Ram bed tent and camping experiences

Back around 2001-2003, I had a Silverado that my girlfriend and I would take all over the East Coast camping with our bed tent. We loved it. Just pull in, set up the tent, inflate the air mattress, roll out the sleeping bags and have a fun weekend! Completely disagree about the wheel wells...
