Truck looked great but things just weren’t right.
Pulled everything off the front and put the softer springs back in the rear. The truck sits almost perfectly level; very slight rake. Put the Bilsteins back on and the factory springs. The truck is exactly the height I wanted originally. Truck...
Well, pulling the coilovers off and also putting the softer springs back in the rear. I’ll leave the rear king shocks as those have been pretty great.
The coilovers gave me way too much lift and my front CV axle angles are way off. I’m putting the Bilsteins back on the front and softer king...
Part of the thinking/hope for putting the heavy duty springs is to shift some of the vehicle weight forward a bit. No idea if that’ll work but it helps when talking tongue weight of your trailer and balancing that weight shift.
If the springs don’t help with getting the front down some I will...
I finally had a chance to get over to Carli in Lake Elsinore and was able to have Dan (VP at Carli) ride (he actually drove) in my truck so I could get a professional opinion on the suspension performance.
Well, a big "issue" I had/have is the way I drive my truck. I drive like an old man and...
no Sir, no strut spacers. right out of the box from Carli (CJC) and installed on the truck. that and the UCAs anyway. Some people have mentioned that I have load E tires, but I had slightly lower profile load E tires on before this suspension installation and didn't have any of these issues. I...
that is exactly what I was worried might happen. I'm thinking I need to get the spring compressors and take that tension off.
I am still trying to get Carli tech support to take a ride with me to see if this is how my truck/suspension should behave. They haven't replied back to me since late...
I tried lowering the collar/reducing the preload to zero. I can't get that thing to spin. I get the Allen loose and when I put the punch tool in to turn the collar I can't get it to go anywhere. that is with the vehicle lifted off the ground and no weight on the front tires.
I just measured it. I’m at 25 1/4”. That’s just way too much front end lift. I only wanted it to be level.
There is hardly any preload at all. I have maybe four threads / five at the most. I’ve tried to take all of the preload out but I can’t get the collar to turn.
I’m trying to get an appointment with Carli in lake Elsinore to have them ride in the truck with me. If this truck rides the way it’s “supposed” to then I’m pulling the coilovers out and putting it back to how I had it. I’ll keep the rear setup though because that’s turned out great
I don’t think this version is considered a leveling kit but that’s kind of what it does. My front is now about two inches higher than the rear for some reason, so the level didn’t quite work. I barely have any preload at all. I tried taking out the rest of the preload but just can’t get that...
I’m not clear what else should move? The coilovers barely move when jacked or lifted individually. The UCA is Carli. I have the front sway bar disconnected now in an effort to try to get some kind of bump compliance. It helps a little.
Can you tell me what else you meant please?
I really do...
Exactly guys. I know there’s something wrong but I don’t know what.
My last couple of emails to Carli haven’t been answered.
I was discussing this stuff with accutune and really appreciated their quick replies but they apparently don't do work on the vehicle itself. if I send them the shocks...
So accutune told me via email that they don’t perform work on the vehicle. They said I would have to send them the shocks and they would send them back with approximately a two week turnaround. I don’t think that’s the route I want to go.
I jacked up the front of my truck to get some...
accutune. i do not remember the guy who I spoke to. he seemed to actually look up information for the 4thgen but didn't have any recommendations for tuning or state they could help me with tuning. I don't think I asked them about the springs that day as that wasn't something I was really looking...
so I called them and the guy I spoke to didn't have any good input for the 4th gen Ram. Could you please give me a solid contact there? I'll try contacting them again. I'd love to go with someone "local". thanks.
Looking for advice on length and weight of replacement springs.
I’m thinking I need to stick with the 13” but go with a 600lb spring. I don’t see 500lb springs on King’s website.
Now if I do go with the 600lb spring what should I do about preload? I’ve only about 4 threads down on preload...
The money that I’ve put into this. Being stubborn as hell. Wishing it would magically get better.
I don’t actually have all of the stick equipment. I changed to Bilstein 5100’s a while back. I could prob just go back to that on the front. Not sure if I can keep the Carli UCAs or not with...
update: I disconnected the front sway bar by removing the end links and it has helped some. it's obviously not as tight going around turns but since I added the hellwig rear sway bar that helps keep things fairly flat in the turns. I haven't given it a big test after this mod but I did hit some...
The comment about getting cats to keep the mice off the engine was funny to me because my engine cover constantly has cat paw prints on it from the cats laying down on the engine for warmth.
I posted my issue with the Carli 2.5 performance (Kings). I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. My Bils were way better. I believe the primary issue in my case is the spring rate (700lb) on this Carli set-up. I think I should have gotten a 550 or something like that. My truck rides on its...
I didn’t think it was proper but wasn’t all that certain, which is partially why I posted last year.
As for the down travel. I have to crawl/creep over speed bumps because of the way the front end feels. The back end is great. Rides extremely well. Actually, the rear did feel extremely well...
You guys are great.
I’ve been on the forum many times since my first post on this issue and after my follow-up comments but I guess I hadn’t checked for any recent activity on this thread. My apologies.
I did buy this kit from CJC Off-road directly. I didn’t buy it used or from a third party...
