    Need some Cummins love!

Shouldn't be any hate in here, its the cummins forum! I bought mine 6hrs north of where I live. Pretty much took off in the morning with an empty flatbed trailer that my 3/4ton chevy didn't seem to like. Got there, test drove the truck and signed the paperwork. It was a 2014 and had 25k...

What the heck are these ?

My guess is the 3500 is out of whatever weight class those are required for. The 19 3500 doesn't have them, but the 19 2500 does. Kevin

What the heck are these ?

Seeing as I have a 2019 3500 here in the shop right now and it does not have the brackets/mounts I'm not quite sure I buy the impact crash reason. This is a dealer vehicle, still has the window sticker in it. I would not think the brackets are dealer installed item if its a safey reason. I...

Radius arms vs drop bracket lifts?

Radius arms can correct caster after lifting and resolve some tire clearance issues. Radius arm drop brackets can correct for caster as well as roll axis (under/over steer) as well as correcting anti-dive after lifting. Obviously doing so at the expense of clearance. If you want corrected...

First Time Diesel Owner + Bed Camper Advice

I can't imagine you'd need a tune on a newer truck. I guess I just don't see getting that much of a gain out of it. I have a 14 and its got like 400hp and 800ish tq, I mean do I really need more? I barely use any of it as it is. I think its the fastest thing I've ever owned(kinda sad in a...

    2500 vs 3500 Payload

Thats a good question. I've always wondered why the 6.4 trucks got a 3000lb rear payload rating vs the 2000lb rating of a cummins? Yes the cummins is heavier, but not 1000lbs heavier. The hemi would have to be a super light weight engine for that alone to be the cause. I guess the dEF tank...

    One nut loose...V06 Recall

Two things: 1. The nut can come loose, but for the draglink to fail and come apart the adjusting sleeve needs to unthread. Wouldn't you notice that in the steering wheel? I mean the steering wheel would be a good bit off going straight down the road before it finally came apart. Never a bad...

Running Exhaust Brake All The Time. Good or Bad?

Why not? I use mine on auto all the time on the interstate as I find the full exhaust brake to be a bit too much at times. I find having the exhaust brake on full all the time and the tow haul mode on really helps with control on curvy back roads. Kevin

    Towing 20' Trailer...Bouncing Like Crazy

Yes, empty trailers cause a lot of bounce to be transmitted to the tow vehicle. The heavier the trailer and lighter the tow vehicle the worse it is. It's totally different loaded with some tongue weight. Kevin

Gasser or Diesel for hauling 12K?

Ok, ok, ok.... Bought a truck. I had not realized the towing capacity was so high on a gas ram truck, espicially the 6.4s. So far I still haven't seen any 4.10 trucks except for one stripped down work truck. The truck market in my area is really inflated, so I'm searching a 500mile radius to...

Gasser or Diesel for hauling 12K?

Honestly the whole truck market is like that. I could buy something old, say 2004ishgas truck for $10-$12k with 200k miles on it, if I want to jump to the next body style, 2009ish, the price jumps to $30k+ doesn't seem to matter what the mileage is. Found a 2018 6.4 crewcab 4wd 3.73 for...

Gasser or Diesel for hauling 12K?

I was pretty sold on the 6.4 until two things happened, I can't find any and for the price of a 6.4 I can get a diesel with a few more miles. I have only found one 4.10 truck within 100mi of me and its a 5.7 work truck. Looking at prices a comparable 6.4 truck with 50k miles is about the same...

Gasser or Diesel for hauling 12K?

Thats all pretty much what I suspected. FWIW, it'll be my go to daily driver when not towing. A diesel seems excessive for that, but so does the whole truck. It would get used as a truck in between tow duties, occasionally pulling a 6k lbs trailer also, but nothing a half ton couldn't do...

Gasser or Diesel for hauling 12K?

Say you had an enclosed trailer that fully loaded weighed in at 12K lbs. Say you towed this trailer 4-6 times a year, anywhere from 200 to 400 miles with an occasional 900 mile trip all out west with mountains and such. Would you get by with a gas truck, or go for the diesel that can easily...

What would your dream truck look like

Mine would look like free fuel, no payments, and unlimited warranty. Just sayin. Although some of those other trucks are nice too! Kevin

    Prerunner Suspension option

Finally something worth looking at in the lifted section! Your work looks good. I'd find a new spot for those bypasses on the back of the 1500 though. Kevin

    2010-2013 vs 2014+

Trust me, if I could go out and buy a new truck I would. The bodies seem the same between the two, and I knew of the suspension changes also. I do feel like the newer trucks are better, and they should be. Just wandering if there were any other reasons to stay away from the earlier ones...

    2010-2013 vs 2014+

Any reason not to buy an earlier 2500, vs the later 2014+? I know the later trucks are great, and they got the 6.4L motor. I'm mostly looking at gas trucks. Kevin

    2014 2500 5.7L gear upgrade

3.73 to 4.10 isn't much of a difference. If you want to try it, just put smaller tires on the tow rig. Its actually cheaper to buy a new set of tires than regear your current axles. Its probably cheaper if you look around to find a used set of stock axles with 4.10s than it is to do a gear...

Level - Do I need springs?

Depends how much you want to spend. If you just want it level, get a spacer. If you want a better ride, get new springs with shocks that are tuned to them. Bilsteins are good shocks, but if they aren't tuned to the springs in the truck its going to be a crap shoot as to how it will...

    Replacement shocks...bilstein or Skyjacker M95 or ??????

Fox, King, Icon? We've got some custom valved Fox's on our shop truck and it rides great. A bit on the firm side, but the rear suspension doesn't move much when it's empty. Kevin

    Wheel hop 2500

You guys getting wheel hop while the bed is empty? Its probably mostly due to the crappy rubber bushings in the rear control arms. I noticed the other day driving the work truck that when coming to a complete stop the truck bounces back and forth. Kinda like the axles have stopped moving, but...
