    The Impossible Tire Question

There aren't many tire manufactures but they do own many subsidiaries. I find a tire I like, research the company, ownership, etc. It's the reason I have moved tire replacements to Walmart. I have found brands that get better wear and handle better than big brands and are 50% the cost but often...

    General truck financial question

My advice I would give my kids: Don't live together. If you have been together for 3 years, make it permanent. But if you do decide to live together, don't have joint accounts. I would say make sure any agreements (lease, utilities, etc.) are in both names, but I have seen that turn into a...

    Fluid changes

I take these with ample scrutiny, but Valvoline has the fluid rated ZF equivalent. That and hundreds of long term reports give this more credence.

    ATF drain question

I just saw a pic of the tranny with pan off. I'm fairly certain there is no way to get a drain line to the bottom of the pan.

    ATF drain question

I am looking to change the transmission fluid but want to do several flushes with Valvoline Maxlife Multi prior to dropping the pan. Has anyone drained the transmission fluid from the top fill hole? Are there any restrictions preventing this from working with a hand/vacuum pump on an 8HP70...

    Transmission not serviceable????

I have a 2017 Ram 1500 ST 4x4 with the 8-Speed Automatic 8HP70 Transmission. I called a local dealer for servicing the transmission (fluid change) and was told there is no service component on the transmission. The service manual says, "Change automatic transmission fluid and filter(s)...

    Tires affecting MPG

I run stock 265/70R/17 on my Tradesman Crew 4x4. The original Dunlops I averaged around 19.7 MPG. Cooper Adventure 21.4, and now Finalist Terrano HT 20.6 MPG. Highway. Around town, take off about 2 MPG. No engine mods other than an oil bypass can.

    New Tire Day

For the past 3 years I have been running Copper Discovery AT3 tires. I liked the tires, but they were horrible tires for wet conditions when accelerating from a stop - lots of tire slip in the rear which was problematic on the occasional rural mountain areas. After 3 years and 35k miles I had...

Engine cuts off when decelerating ??

I've had this issue 2x over my life of owning cars and trucks over 53 years. The first time I had every diagnostic known to man run to pinpoint an issue. $1000 later is was a cracked air intake hose, $8 part. When I turned right, it was separating just enough so that extra air entered the...

    Tire load range and index

Folks - thanks for all the feedback. Yes, it is cheaper to thrown on a half-life Cooper tire @ $75 + $25 balance and install. Not sure I like riding on a set that has a belt issue. Coupled with the fact that they have horrible wet traction from stop to initial acceleration, I'm ready to replace...

    Tire load range and index

Thanks. I was simply asking about the remaining weight capacity of the tires. From your reply, if I maxed the gvwr I would only be at ~50% of the tires supported load weight capability.

    Tire load range and index

No idea. The stock tires from the factory that wore out after 27K miles. The Cooper ATs have had a growing belt issue on one for 33k miles. I hate to change then as they have about half of tread left but the ride is so annoying.

    Tire load range and index

I am currently running my second set of tires but due to a belt separation issue I am looking for replacements. One thing I haven't considered is load range or index as an influence as part of recommendations, but I am now. When a tire is E rated/121, it's fully inflated load capacity is...
