    I finally got a tuner and tuned the trans on my 4th gen lonestar. Makes it much nicer to drive let me tell you. I just wish there was more options for tuning the 4.7, seems to be pretty much nothing. But i’m okay with that, she’s been the most reliable vehicle i’ve pretty much ever driven.

    Old post i’m aware, but, if you run the e-fan with no modifications to the tune you will run 203-208F with A/C on and 223 without it on before the PCM kicks it on to avoid overheating. I have low speed set at 195, medium at 200 and full speed at 208 using HP Tuners.

    Converter issues have odd ways of showing up. If it’s a 6 speed I would personally recommend a bottle of shudder fix to see if that helps, maybe look at TCC lock/unlock/partial lock tests in the TCM to see what it’s reporting. It’ll either PASS or FAIL. You can do this with an android/apple...

    You’ll quickly find out what transmission you have via how you shift. Rotary dial? 8 speed. Column or floor shifter? 6 speed.

    Also, in HP Tuners somewhere there’s a selection for the transmission type. Yours most likely right now is set at 65RFE. If you were to do the swap, you would have to set it at 8HP70.

    You would have to run a relearn through AlfaOBD to reset clutch adaptives. Unplugging the battery will only reset the engine adaptives.     hey burla…i remember you had a stuttering issue a while ago. did you ever find a fix? i think i read that when you put it in tow/haul the stuttering stopped…that’s my case. i have a bad stuttering in 2nd on and it goes away when i put the truck into tow/haul.

    Okay, interesting to say the least but doesn’t matter much as luckily there’s lots of 8 speeds on the market. Gonna pickup the transmission soon though as i have enough for it. Then it’s just wiring and mounts.
