Valve seat drop is common in 99-07 4.7s. Not all that common in 08-13 4.7s due to chrysler changing the valve seat design and head design with the 08+ “Corsair” refresh.
If it is completely locked up i would pull the intake plugs on ALL cylinders and look inside of them with a camera. I would...
Hello everyone.
Welp, my 4.7 finally kicked the bucket recently. Started with what sounded like piston slap, pulled the head, found some decent wear in cyl 7 along with the piston itself being easy to move and slapping along the bore causing the noise.
I’m moving to TX in a few months because...
Im curious about this.
I did the 8hp swap halfway through on my 4.7. I was about to get the wiring but then I was informed I would also need a new pcm to make it work, issue with that being that no other pcms work as the 4.7 was never optioned with that. So it's kinda dead in the water for now...
Heres a pretty decently long list:
• The reliability
• The ride comfort
• The seats
• Sound system
Seriously. These trucks are freaking amazing. I was told to stay away from ram due to horrid reliability, but little did i know that their trucks would be a fair bit better than past yotas or...
My Lonestar is pretty much as loaded as a lonestar could be minus a few things like fog lights, leather seats, and the sunroof all of which i didn’t want.
One thing i regret not getting was the projectors….i swear to god the stock halogens are awful. Can’t wait to eventually get them upgraded...
I finally got a tuner and tuned the trans on my 4th gen lonestar.
Makes it much nicer to drive let me tell you. I just wish there was more options for tuning the 4.7, seems to be pretty much nothing. But i’m okay with that, she’s been the most reliable vehicle i’ve pretty much ever driven.
Old post i’m aware, but, if you run the e-fan with no modifications to the tune you will run 203-208F with A/C on and 223 without it on before the PCM kicks it on to avoid overheating.
I have low speed set at 195, medium at 200 and full speed at 208 using HP Tuners.
Converter issues have odd ways of showing up. If it’s a 6 speed I would personally recommend a bottle of shudder fix to see if that helps, maybe look at TCC lock/unlock/partial lock tests in the TCM to see what it’s reporting. It’ll either PASS or FAIL. You can do this with an android/apple...
Hey everyone.
I just got my hands on HPTuners and i’ve been playing around with it for a bit. I’ve been messing with trans settings too and managed to get the 6 speed into an actual 6 speed with nicer shifts but it could still use some help on low speed acceleration which i am fixing soon...
The radio will work but you will not have touch screen controls over the climate control unless you want to get screwed and buy the OEM harness etc.
If you just want the radio to work, and have volume control, you can purchase this...
Also, in HP Tuners somewhere there’s a selection for the transmission type. Yours most likely right now is set at 65RFE. If you were to do the swap, you would have to set it at 8HP70.
Trying to find this out for my 2013 4.7 as well. I’m not sure what russell means when it comes down to using your factory wiring to wire up the 8HP. If i have to use an aftermarket harness and tap into a whole bunch of other stuff like how you would in a truck that didn’t have the 8 speed as an...
Replying to this.
I have a 8HP70 behind my 2013 4.7 at the moment. Nothing else has been done to it like wiring or mounts as i’m still waiting for those to come in, not even the cooler lines are tapped yet.
Regarding the wiring, is the additional wiring for the pre-8 speed trucks required for...
You would have to run a relearn through AlfaOBD to reset clutch adaptives. Unplugging the battery will only reset the engine adaptives. If your D and E clutches are maxed out volume wise, I would suggest dropping the pan and checking for clutch material in the pan.
8 speeds do have their fair...
8HP is in the truck. Nothing has been mounted up yet, it’s just bolted in there with a transmission jack mount holding it up.
I am still waiting to save up 1K for a custom driveshaft, and for the harnesses and HP tuner credit. Expect to need around 3K for that. I went with a truck 8HP as the...
hey burla…i remember you had a stuttering issue a while ago.
did you ever find a fix? i think i read that when you put it in tow/haul the stuttering stopped…that’s my case. i have a bad stuttering in 2nd on and it goes away when i put the truck into tow/haul.
Holy crap really????? I had no clue! Yes it’s a 2wd and this is excellent to know as i found a Charger HP70 for 400$. I’ll also be using the t-shifter from a charger too…oh man i’m so excited for this build.
Okay, interesting to say the least but doesn’t matter much as luckily there’s lots of 8 speeds on the market.
Gonna pickup the transmission soon though as i have enough for it. Then it’s just wiring and mounts.
