Start with the easiest, cheapest and most importantly…. The most basic of the things that are likely to be the problem. If you’re battery is good, then it is probably a major connection to ground. If you want to eliminate a suspected cause completely, remove all of your ground straps from both...
Head light switch is most likely the culprit. Although it may only be a connection/connector issue. When it flickers, I’d say wiggle your connection to the switch and instrument cluster or harness(es) to see if you can find it that way .
My trans shifter block, or
(trans. Range sensor) had similar symptoms and it slowly and gradually became less and less effective but if I could shift into drive , it would be fine for the duration of the trip UNLESS I forgot it was ***** and shifted to park. Then it was a hit or miss to either...
I was told by 2 separate shops I had a bad coil pack and it was causing the misfire. The 3 place ? He got lucky immediately when his work light fell or moved and then he noticed that a spark plug was sparking out from boot and it was a cracked plug that was it . I had that problem intermittently...
I bought the technical manual cd rom for my ‘08 Ram for $30 off eBay . It’s the book that techs use at dealerships. It has been a great read but it always references the scanner they use for many of their troubleshooting tasks and how step by step with electrical values and their acceptable...
Why would somebody, anyone at a dealership ever just not put in a warranty claim for the grill ?
Is it going to cost them anything
( including time ) ? The dealer doesn’t eat any of the costs , right ? Sounds like nothing but a lazy a-h*le just being himself to me.
Oh sorry, I skipped the part where you got it fixed. I am not going to say that I have never ( duh n ) anything like that in my lifetime , one thing I do know is that I now have those fuses that light up when they’re blown. They cost more but they are worth it ! I still have a tiny bulb socket...
Some tuners are known to reverse the polarity of the reverse (back up) lights but not the license plate circuit. I gotta ask you though. You haven’t got these two things mixed up ? Right ? I know it’s probably not even possible, but you never know.
I do go off road now and then but I’m sure at least 80% of the wear I get is from the pavement in town /highway roads that are THRASHED. Lots of massive gaps in the expansion joints on the bridges that I drive over too. Not sure where the road tax $ goes , but it doesn’t seem to go for...
I thought it would be a lower torque reading if you were using something on the threads. Am I wrong ? Please advise asI am soon doing a head gasket and switching to studs .
On some trucks with certain parts, they have to be ‘introduced’ or calibration is necessary. Also , was your plastic connector on your new shift solenoid (or whatever it’s called) the same color as the other part that you plugged it into ? That matters , it’ll plug in fine but not work properly...
Not an expert by any means on A/T s but when you replace governors and/or solenoids, do them all . I just buy the cheap set of them and save the old ones to possibly be reinstalled if in fact the new ones don’t happen to rectify the problem. I have to always keep it simple and inexpensive and...
If it’s not the battery then check the connections from the ground battery to the block and the body/chassis . I often find that the larger battery cables are corroded from within , thus causing less of a charge from the alternator and more of a draw on the battery.
Obviously (or so I thought it was) , a diesel’s engine oil is going to turn black rather fast compared to that of a gasser (gasoline engine).
The question was,
Is anyone's oil NOT black immediately after an oil change?
Now I thought that’s what I was babbling about. If you’re intimidated...
That’s how you do it ! As soon as factory wires are cut , it’s just a matter of time before electrical problems start to haunt you. Those line taps are not only unreliable but they cut your wire even if they are of the correct gauge/size.
How’s your light pattern with the reflector lenses ...
I’m thinking that you might want to change your CCV filter at your next oil change. I have done that with the 3 trucks that I’ve bought as soon as I get them home after purchase, (all were used with between 120k-150k miles. My oil was only black within the week when I didn’t change the CCV...
A friend of mine bought a 2007 new off the lot and paid dealer $600 for lifetime oil changes , a deal if you’re comfortable with that and it’s convenient for you to do it that way. No matter the shop these days , I’ll admit that I have trust issues with any and all mechanics these days. It is...
I have an ‘08 2500 HD 6.7. I had the red lightning bolt light up and over the course of a few weeks, my throttle position sensor (accelerator pedal) slowly gave me less and less power. I bought a new one and it only gave wide open throttle
( can I get a WOT !?! ) sorry, anyway, at start up and...
Ive got the 08 w/ 6.7 & 68 rfe also . It’s an awesome thing. Mine shifted not to my liking. I got a tuner that also lets you customize the firmness and at what point your trans. shifts for your driving style. I have no issues with my 6 speed now.
I just got over a similar situation with 68rfe. Mine was down shifting so hard it was like the brakes were locked up. I thought my shifter cable wasn’t calibrated, that wasn’t the problem. The shifter (block) solenoid was going out. My tuner scanner code was ‘transmission range sensor...
I had water under my rear seat wells and read about the vents leaking … I hot to them and they were both okay and intact. Turned out I hadn’t noticed when I switched 3rd brake light for a blacked out version I didn’t notice the strip of weatherstripping that was stuck on oem snd should’ve been...
Do you have a 2nd working key w/ fob ?
Or perhaps I should ask if you have 2 keys that start the truck and keep it running ? If you have 2 working keys, you can program a 3rd yourself, if not you’ll have to get a locksmith to program a key. Another question, are there any old keys or keys...
That sounds like a ground wire problem. I was installing gauges in the A pillar recently and I had the exact same symptom you’re describing. I had reinstalled the knee bolster (panel) yet and looked up under the dash. There were a bunch of green wires all connected to chassis and only one of...
