Swap gears 3.73 for the 4.56

I didn’t recalibrate when I switched to 4.56. No problems, speedometer was accurate and transmission didn’t seem bothered by it either. Speed sensor is in the differential, as far downstream as it gets...

Shudder/vibration at low speed turning or backing

Had this problem/situation happen on my last two pickups, a 14 6.7 and an 18 6.4. Both with amsoil severe gear. Shuddering in both trucks. Added friction modifier in both instances and the shudder/noise/vibration was gone. My manuals also said none was needed...

    What gear ratio?

Yes, probably still a touch better. These tires are actually fairly short for a 35 and makes for good rpm’s in 5th. I had 295’s before these tires and rpm was a little higher than those pics, 100 or so.

    What gear ratio?

Make the appointment! I went with 4.56 and sometimes wish I went lower. Cooper 35’s that measure 33.5 installed makes these rpms-

    Hour meter

Yes, happened to my truck too, ‘18 6.4. Drive hours re-set but not the idle. Not sure of a fix.

Where did you mount your airbag compressor ?

Yes. Driver side behind the back seat. I’ve had two different ones that fit. One had the compressor on top of the tank. Now I have tank and compressor mounted to the floor.

Where did you mount your airbag compressor ?

Behind the back seat. Enough room for the compressor and a 1.5 gallon tank.

Air bags needed? 2017 Ram 1500 5.7 STD cab

Pressure will be uniform until truck leans in a corner or one tire goes over a bump, then all the air is forced into the opposite bag. Maybe not all of it, but even a little would be too much for me. Not something I've read, something I've learned.

Make sure you use a separate air line n fill valve for each bag.

    Gas vs Diesel

Sold a '14 Cummins that I bought new and had a lifetime average of 12.2. 100k when I sold it. Never reset it the entire time I owned it. Must be a 'two off' situation...my 6.4 gets the same.

    Front End Issues - 2018 2500 6.4L gasser

It was the upper joint that went bad, the end that's bolted through the sway bar. Get your pry bar somewhere that you can pry the end of the sway bar up and down. The rears on mine also went bad. May have a video of that diagnosis. I'll check and post back later.

    Front End Issues - 2018 2500 6.4L gasser

Check the sway bar end links up front. Mine went bad at 11k. Started clunking, more felt than heard, over rough-ish ranch roads. Found it using a little 16" pry bar. Good luck.

    Engine hours vs. miles

I think it’s a computer glitch. My guess is it should say 1118 drive and 300 whatever idle hours. Those numbers would more or less match my other truck.

    Engine hours vs. miles

I was cycling through the truck menu today and thought I would check the hours on my truck. I don’t usually look but today it says this- I double checked, and my math says I average 244 mph. Can someone check my math?! Computer brain fart or what? Bought the truck new, 2018 MY, in dec 2017...

    New shock recommendation

One vote bilstein. Used them on this truck and the last one. Also on my work f250, my dads 2nd gen ram, and my wife's old bronco. I have also used rancho and do not recommend them, not the 5000's anyway. Good luck.

    Why should I...

You are probably right. The ‘14 Cummins I had, and all of trucks before it, spend all day at the ranch. Low speed dirt roads, 1st and 2nd gear. The Cummins would do its thing every other day maybe? That was the only thing I didn’t like about the truck. It was fantastic otherwise.

    Why should I...

Wasn’t trying to scare you off of a Cummins, but that’s why I sold mine. Bought a new hemi, and then an 85 ford diesel for a ranch truck. Good luck with the farm!

    Gear Swap

To the original question- it's difficult, but do-able. If you use new bearings, yes, they are pressed on/off. Rear axle is 'easier' than the front. The 'hardest' part of re-gearing any axle is the many measurements and adjustments you will make. Again, not all that hard, just time consuming and...
