    Catastrophic Engine Failure

Hmmm. Do you feel the same about your auto insurance on your truck? Collision insurance? I'll quote you on the Extended Warranty and then apply that same thinking to collision insurance. You say, "They're great when you need it, but the percentages say that most end up not using it, which makes...

    Catastrophic Engine Failure

Well, "statistically", I'm betting the majority of homeowner insurance policies are "not a good buy" either, and we all come out on the "losing end", dollar-wise. When you spend $30,000+ on a new truck and Murphy's Law strikes, you'll be glad you got suckered into buying an Extended warranty...

    Catastrophic Engine Failure

I bought a new 2017 Ram 1500 with a 5.7 hemi at the end of 2017. At the time of purchase I did not buy an extended warranty - not from the selling dealership anyway - they always try to scam (overcharge) you for "extras". But, after some research and considering what I was planning with the...

Oil Change Indicator - Break In Period

Yes, thanks greg but I wanted to make sure everything was working right, including the OCI... I was kind of hoping it would have come on before now so I was just curious... good idea on the 7500 miles - if it doesn't come on soon I'll change it anyway. Thanks.

Oil Change Indicator - Break In Period

So I bought my '17 1500 new a little over 4 months ago now and have been waiting for the oil change light to kick on... As of today I've put 7053 miles on it (5.7 Hemi) and the oil condition says 11%. I've been keeping an eye on the dipstick lately and within the last few days or so it looks...

    Towing an RV Trailer

I took this pic the other day at my local Home Depot just for 2500 guys. I'm pretty sure this dude was getting a heavy load of concrete mix and blocks... So when you get right down to it, it's not even the specs you have to be attentive to - it's mostly in your mind. It's more about balls than...

    Towing an RV Trailer

While I don't want to "take sides" or get in the middle of your two's conversation on this (I get in enough trouble on my own), I'm using your quote for a 'general' reference in my reply. Agreed on this. You may have read one of my prior conversations, in this thread I believe, where I too...

    Towing an RV Trailer

My 2 cents: All of the information/advice posted here by people with experience is valuable, whether it conflicts with others' views or not. The adage "If some is good, more is better" definitely applies here. Everybody's situation/setup is unique and reading through these threads, one has to...

    Towing

^^^Great advice! And with that goes the comfort and peace-of-mind knowing you've done things correctly when towing a couple of tons of camper behind you down a busy highway - it's hard to quantify the value in that - definitely worth the time, effort, and money.

    Towing an RV Trailer

I don't doubt it pc. I'm betting a lot of guys out there towing/hauling with their trucks are unaware of their specific limits and how towing, WDHs, etc., affects the payload, etc. Those that are unaware and don't seek out this info are probably the same ones that are more likely not to be...

    Towing an RV Trailer

I stole it from a Kareem Abdul Jabbar interview where he said it was one of his coach's (John Wooden) favorite saying. John Wooden stole it from someone else I believe... I like it too - I keep it where I can see it to remind myself... ;)

    Towing an RV Trailer

My transmission seems to run pretty hot anyway... from what I've read here, for the newer 8-speeds, it's "normal" for them to run hotter. I looked at my temp today after some stop-and-go, minor hill climbing, etc. (without towing anything) after a semi-long drive, it was running about 179*, and...

    Aftermarket Trailer Brake Controller

I just put one (aftermarket) in my '17. The connection is where everyone says it is. Go to etrailer, put in your info, it will give you selections to choose from, installation videos, etc...

    What Size Trailer/Camper to Buy

You have to start with your numbers (capability limits) of your specific truck and work from there. Look at your sticker/tables first. You will need to know GVWR, GCWR, Payload, and max trailer weight for your specific vehicle. That will vary depending on your engine, transmission, and gear...

    Towing an RV Trailer

I'll concur sir... and am guilty of such, but as with all things of this nature the main subject can take some tangents. It is a bit the nature of the beast... And nobody hurts my feelings... ;) Enjoy your HEMIs, happy towing!

    Towing an RV Trailer

You know reek, this may be hard for you (and some others reading this) to believe, based on a couple of my colorful posts, but in the real world I'm a pretty easy-going guy, easy to get along with and generally well-liked... I'm a live and let live guy. As long as you aint causing me harm, my...

    Towing an RV Trailer

Well, it was really more of a rhetorical question... :) With that said, the conversation was about capability/performance rather than "platform" and although I'm really not interested in trying to win a back-and-forth argument between the 3500 vs. 2500 now, and without comparing all the numbers...

    Towing an RV Trailer

See, there it is again... You 2500 guys always imply we are going to "cruise around overloaded"...? and therefore, we need a 2500? Where do you get all that from? Let me ask you this: Do the 3500 guys bust your balls too telling you your 2500 is incapable of doing what it was designed to do and...

    Towing an RV Trailer

Yeah, here's the guy who was chastising me about my 1500. In a thread I was browsing this morning, I found this: ---------------------------- --------------------------- Then after he buys a 2500 he remarkably has more of a safety conscience about it, going so far as accusing me of...

    Towing an RV Trailer

Yeah. I bought a 2017 1500 just before Christmas. I've had a couple of debates in other threads with 2500 owners who called my 1500 a "grocery getter", "that can tow some things". Some of them claim the 1500 isn't built to tow... etc., etc., you need a 2500... same as this thread. I say, yeah...

First Extended Warranty or Mopar Extended Warranty??? Which is best??

You probably aren't eligible for a Mopar lifetime; I do think you have to be the original owner. You can input your info here to check: https://www.mopar.com/ramtrucks/en-us/care/mopar-vehicle-protection.html If you really want an extended powertrain warranty (service contract) you can get a...

First Extended Warranty or Mopar Extended Warranty??? Which is best??

Talk to the dealer first, see if they can switch it over for you somehow to a Mopar... might be able to work it that way. If not, try the bank itself... because you do have that refund coming, it will be either given to you or the lender and applied to the loan... somebody should work with you...
