Looking for Suggestions for Hitch Step

Many people who buy an HD truck need a class 5 hitch. It is meant to be a commercial use, but us retired guys still yank around our 12k and 16k trailers for fun. The adaptor can be a pain. I lost mine on the highway a few weeks ago when I pulled my 2” drawbar out and forgot about the adaptor...

5th wheel toy hauler, gas or diesel?

A lot of good info given. If you’re staying local, and a flat lander, gas will get you by. If you’re going across county, and especially crossing the mountains, you’ll want that diesel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    1997 Dodge Ram Sport 1500

Sounds like a good bet. I ran my 97 1500 for 12 years and racked up 280k miles. Plowed snow and towed a bobcat around. It was a beast and I never had to touch any major components on it. Sold it to a paving company that wanted to use it for snow plowing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    Alternator delay

I’ve seen mine do it too. I figure it’s a low priority task for the computer or data traffic. There’s a lot of stuff going on at startup, and the queue is probably prioritized. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

About to buy my first pickup

The 97 is a good truck. I put 280k on mine with the 5.2. Towed and plowed snow with it. Never had a single drivetrain issue. I did replace normal thinks like brakes, water pump, alternator, idler pulley, and later the radiator. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    Ham Radio Antenna

It’s a tough cab for mounting full size equipment. Does your radio have remote front face? I use a remote kit and mount the main radio under a seat, and face like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

    New pads at 31k??? Really?

Some people drive harder than others. I can race a car, but my truck brakes last a long time. My wife was a binary driver. If the gas wasn’t flooded, the brake pedal was. I told she didn’t really need to drive hard all the way to the stop line. I finally resigned to the fact that I was...

    Is anyone shopping right now?

I never play the incentives. Research and pay 3% over their cost. Then tell them you want the 0% finance. Go in on the last week of the month, better yet Aug 25th and Sept 25th have been my best deal days. Actually I shop on the 25th and let them sweat until the last day of the month when...

    New BW companion hitch

It seems this will happen when you have a little pressure pulling forward, or rolling back against the kingpin. When the pin is sitting neutral without pressure from any direction, jaws will open up easy. I’ll be in that situation and give the releasing handle a real hard yank and it releases...
