Using the HD 3500 Auxiliary Switches

What I have done on motorcycles with CAN BUS is to install a fuse block with a relay. I used something that was on when the "key" was on as a trigger for the relay to the fuse block which was powered straight from the battery after the relay was activated. Then another relay for the driving...

1500 vs 2500 for towing travel trailer (downhill)

I have towed with 1500. I went to 2500 and would never go back unless I was towing a pop up trailer. As a mater of fact I did tow a large pop up but had a 2500. I you are buying a new truck go the little extra for the 2500. You will not be sorry. People towing trailers often times end up...

Dealer states 2019 Dodge Laramie needs differential cleaned at 26K miles.

They come up with all kinds of crap. Blowing out the filter will damage it. Check it yourself it is easy even for a rookie. Another favorite is the cabin filter if you even have one. I write the date and mileage on the air and cabin filters when I change them. As said, the diff is in the...

    Dual Battery

I gave serious thought it for the same reasons you stated. I have dual alternators on my 6.4 2500 so why not dual batteries. The only somewhat practical solution was the frame mount. I had it all figured out for cables, isolator, switch to use the aux battery if needed for starting, and how...

Truck sitting for a long time, any recommendations?

change oil, attach a battery tender, add at least a double dose of Stabil Marine 360 to the tank, fill the tank, drive home, and park it. If for a very long time taking the weight off of the tires and blocking the sun from the tires is a good idea too. Be sure it has a good wax on it. If...

    Poor mpg for 2022 1500

Is that city? It is better than my mini van. You are driving a truck with a 5.7. If you want mpg buy a Nissan Versa. My 2018 RAM 2500 4x4 gets 12 in town. At 77 mph 16 or so, at 70 mph up to 18, 65 mph I have seen 20 but not regularly. I am talking average of a full tank of gasoline. I am...

    MaxCare Lifetime Warranty Issues

My ABS service light came on on my 2018 2500, so no cruise either, in February. I was told it needed a module and a pump(?). Dealer told me they could only order one of what I needed per week. When they ordered it I was told it was on back order and would be in in August. WTF! I called...

    ABS Control Mod

My 2018 2500 ABS went out February 5 after almost 5 years and 51,000 miles. I took it to the dealer February 20, I was out of town. System was flushed when it was 2.5 years old by the dealer. Module and pump needs replaced. They were ordered March 3. I was told they could only order one per...

Do Dual 220 Amp Alternators Lessen Fuel Economy?

I am sure it could be measured. If buying a 2500 or 3500 don't worry about the drain of an extra alternator. Your foot and load will make the biggest difference. I own a 2500 with them, not because I need them but because there was that option, they are there if I need them, and I wanted all...

    100k

216,000 on our Town and Country 4.0 V6. Have the Max Care Bumper to Bumper and have used it. It is not a RAM but I hope to get this many miles out of my RAM 2500 6.4. It only has 50,000 now.

How much of this is really necessary?

Check the owners manual. The intake, TB, and induction is BS, just a money maker for them. One of the service reps at the dealer I go to likes to "de carbonize" the intake. Was the intake removed to inspect it? Really? I asked what they do when I was presented with the above "maintenance"...

    MAX CARE EXTENDED WARRANTY

Have or had Max Care Lifetime Bumper to Bumper (Lifetime not offered anymore) $100 deduct on 4 MoPar. It has been great. Best buy is on line. One van got totaled before we got much use out of it but was prorated refund. The replacement van at 14 yrs and 215,000 has more than paid for...

Experience and Recommend Extended Warranties 21' Ram 6.7L

MoPar Max Care is the only way to go if you are going to keep it. I do not believe the Lifetime is available any longer. We have the lifetime bumper to bumper $100 deduc at present on 3 of our vehicles and on previously owned MoPar vehicles. Our mini van has 215,000 miles on it at 14 years...

This MPG is why I bought the 3.21

I am sorry and I do not intentionally want to P anyone off but when people buy a truck and complain about MPG sort of hits me wrong. If you want the MPG of a car buy a car. I am happy for anyone getting good MPG. If a person likes driving on interstates at 60mph in Texas where most...

Regretting ordering 3.92 on my 22 Ram Ecodiesel and almost debating paying to downgrade to 3.21

It is a truck. If you want to use it as a truck and not a car the 3.21 gears would be disappointing. Don't expect miracles. As probably mentioned, the advertised MPG, if accurate at all, is under ideal conditions with experts in getting high MPG.

    Oil question

A lot of this misinformation comes from back in the "olden days" when oil had little to no standards. The Pennsylvania crude was not to be mixed with the Texas crude as it was said the base was different enough to cause slug build up. Maybe that was true 50 years ago, I don't know. I do have...

I can take the heat...Give it to me straight

Yes, I remember at 100K and you were walking. Those were the good ol days. I still think the were really good old days but cars last longer now. Our family 1962 Chev inline 6 engine had to be rebuilt somewhere after 100K. It did not make it to 200K before another rebuild and sold. That is...

    Weight Distribution vs Air Bags

Bags do not cure the problem, equalizer does. Along with a stabilizer no worry about the tail wagging the dog as long as the tow vehicle is not super short wheel base, not a problem with almost all pickups. I towed a large pop up camper many miles with my 3/4 ton Ram Van with out equalizer...

Mopar Vehicle Protection Maximum Care plan

Yep, used it. Very happy I have it on all three of our vehicles. One has 212,000 on it after 14 years and the plan has paid for itself at $100 deductible. We have the Life Time Max Care which is not offered any longer. We keep our vehicles until the die. If you change often it may not be...

How can i get better gas mileage

The wife's Challenger R/T does get 24-25 mpg if I keep it under 75 mph. Different animal and rear end. Why did you buy a PU? If it was for mileage buy an electric or hybrid. I can't add anything that hasn't been said. But here is my experience back in the "olden days" of the first...
