    3:73 to 4:10 cost

Figured I'd chime in with my 2 cents. 18 Power Wagon on 35s. 19,500lbs loaded (4.10s Factory/5.38 regear) I could pull 6% grades in second gear (4.10s) around 55mph with factory 33s or whatever they were.. in second gear (4500 rpm) I regeared and now run 35"M/T muds and 5.38s. Same hills 3rd...

    66rfe to 8hp70 swap

I'm still gathering parts but I have the d & j one. Going to use sonnax for the rest of vb parts.

    66rfe to 8hp70 swap

Figured I would just throw my 2 cents in here. I just finished a 5.13 gear swap a few months ago in my 18. I can honestly say this is how it should have come and the 66rfe works freaking great. The biggest surprise was the engine braking and how well it worked towing now. Make sure you put...

    Swapping Trans

I'm pretty sure the only difference is the front pumps for diesel and gas. All the hard parts should be the same (maybe all of it). I would talk to a reputable builder and see what they say about the rpm your v10 will turn compared to a cummins. Other than that the valvebody, billet shafts...

Cummins front seal and Harmonic dampener R&R

So there may be other ways of doing this but I always just pulled the front cover off and knocked the crank seal in on a bench. The worst part is (besides all the grime) is taking the radiator fan/shroud off. If you have not done so, now is a good time to fix the front cover dowel pin (if you...

    Dreaded lifter failure

Has anyone looked seen how may updates the lifters have gone through since 2011? It's a fair amount. Did a cam swap on my 2012 and at 80k it started to show the slightest wear on one of the peaks of the lobes and the roller was starting to seize up. I used "updated" lifters were the 2018...

6 speed auto transmission for towing

This thread had become useless for anyone seeking information. You and your LOLs and emogees are better suited for your social media forums. You stated the 68rfe shared nothing with any of other RFE transmissions. I proved you wrong and was able to share some information (maybe someone learned...

6 speed auto transmission for towing

Yes, once again we are talking towing HD vehicles. Jeep, SRT etc are not considered HD vehicles FYI!!!!! Never once did I state the 65 is a good transmission . I own one and it has zero problems (Durango). The 8 speed has been on my radar for a while but I am not tossing this thing until it blows.

6 speed auto transmission for towing

Yes, I am on a different planet. I live in the real world and you can use your the evidence you find on the internet to argue with me......on the internet. I believe everything I see on facebook by the way! The RFE line of transmissions came out in the late 90s I believe and have been through...

6 speed auto transmission for towing

You forgot to mention that the RFE is still placed behind the Cummins...Wonder why they don't put the 8 speeds behind them?

    Built Valve Body Questions (RFE)

What is done to the valve body? The temps don't seem bad at all to me. Why did you change it in the first place?

    66 rfe swap?

Sorry, no info on the Aisin but I would call up Firepunk diesel since you are in Ohio. The 66 shares a lot of parts with the 68rfe that is behind the cummins. You can put stock back in these but they have inherent problems that the factory doesn't address. The biggest thing is the crossleakage...

    Used truck advice. Delete/tuning questions???

Just throwing my two cents out here if it matters. I own two cummins truck 95 and 06. Diesels are by far so much more expensive to repair. I have an 18 6.4 as well. The only way I could justify buying another cummins was if I was going to tow heavy on a regular basis. By far so many more things...

    Transmission problem - advice needed

Although I am not a fan of ATS I think they are correct for the most part. I don't think the housing is part of the torque capacity, most likely is the torque converter I am assuming (they are way bigger on the diesels).

    2022 Camping season...preps...thoughts?

The only month we typically don't go camping is December. We boondock 99% of the time (I hate people). We have lots of choices in Az no matter what time of the year. My kids are small so driving too much is out of the question for me.

    Transmission problem - advice needed

ScubaSteve hit the nail on the head! DNJ and Revmax both make the channel plate and you should be able to get the pistons and accumulator plate from multiple sources. A lot of aftermarket diesel companies have these for the 68rfe but the VB parts are the same.

    The fun didn't last long.

Maybe cut the oil filter apart before you tear into things. See if you have any glitter floating around.

2013 Power wagon level kits and shocks options

I put a Thuren setup on mine with the fox 2.0s. You might want to look into his track bar as well while you are doing this. I have been running his gear in 3rd and 4th gens with no complaints for quite a while. Also, check your ball joints while you are in there.

Trade my 2018 for a 2022 Power Wagon?

If you are looking for some things to do....I'd put some gears in it. I'm probably going 5.13s but I tow a lot. I'd also look into an D n J billet valve body plate with a few trans updates to bullet proof that thing.

Transmission slip/slow to engage on start up after sitting

It's the anti drain back on your canister filter. I just found this out the hard way. Did a trans service on the wife's durango 65rfe (same filter setup as yours) and used a generic filter kit. Did the exact same thing as you. It was very annoying so I grabbed a mopar canister filter (there may...

    Lift lowering Options -Towing

Yes! The top washers which angle the hitch down. I'm thinking you need more preload on the hitch and this would increase the load on your truck/friction of wd bars and maybe help some of your problem. I forgot to answer one of your questions, I setup my truck without my airbags. I use them to...

    Lift lowering Options -Towing

Maybe add some more preload to the hitch (Top shims). I tow 99% in the mountains with my equalizer with my 18 PW and it's rock solid. I also have about 40 to 50 psi in the bags. I have to lift the truck/trailer up a decent amount to get the WD bars mounted.

6.4 Header options (adding egr port)

The exhaust ports are different on the 5.7 as well. I was thinking more in line of the Jeeps and Durango 6.4s. They have the same port I think and those are a much tighter fit than the rams.

6.4 HD vs SRT cam for DD 5.7 4x4?

I have done this swap. I d0 have custom tune as well. I think the cam cost me 78 bucks and the valve springs were under 200 bucks. This is in my wife's DD and the only reason I didn't spend money on a better cam is just because I had a cracked cylinder head and this was not a planned mod so I...
