    Service Shifter+Replaced

I would look at all the electrical connectors on the transmission and transfer case for broken/chewed wires and green corrosion. It could be a bad connection, broken wire, corrosion, etc. on something on the data bus upstream of the dial shifter. Unfortunately, the way these data buses...

    Emergency brake cable hanging down...

Same issue happened to both my 2017 and 2019 1500 classics, and quickly too. Like after 2 rust belt winters. I've got threads floating around here on how I fixed mine. The problem in the people's republic of NY is, you need a working parking brake to pass your yearly state inspection, so...

Anyone know where to find a rack and pinion?

It would have been great had that link been the real deal. Or maybe great for someone had they bought a bunch of them to resell.

Anyone know where to find a rack and pinion?

It's amazing to me that this EPS shortage has been going on for something like 6yrs. I first read of this situation in the pre-COVID days. The factories were somehow able to keep pumping out Ram 1500 classics, yet spare EPS racks are non-existent. Last I researched it, the part was...

Last Ram I will ever purchase

That really does suck, especially for what these vehicles cost these days. It was quite the opposite experience for me with my 4th gen Ram 1500s. My 2017 and 2019, aside from the silly 3rd brake light water leaks on both, gave me zero issues in the ~70K miles I owned both to.

    Aftermarket 8HP70 pan by AutoTecnica

It's good to hear some real experiences with the autotecnica pan. I wound up never using mine on my 2019 Ram 1500, hemi. I sold the truck last year at around 60K miles, so I never did change the fluid and pan on it. I sold the pan on fleaby some time later and wound up netting next to...

    Thinking about downsizing. Thoughts? Regrets?

I forgot to mention one little benefit in my above. My Frontier is a heck of a lot easier to remove snow from than my Rams were! lol.

    Thinking about downsizing. Thoughts? Regrets?

I went from a 2017 Ram 1500 quad cab, 4x4, to a 2019 1500 classic crew cab 4x4, to a 2022 Nissan Frontier crew cab 4x4. I definitely miss the interior room of my 2019 Ram classic CC. I miss the ride quality of the Ram as well. Similar to you, 3 of my kids are college age now. One is 12, so...

    Halogens? Why?

100% You might like your integrated LED headlamp assembly until the day you need to replace one or both. They can be $1000 or more for an OEM replacement.

    Got Krown'd today!

The Krown shops in Canada have been doing a great job forever. There's been a couple Krown shops in the Buffalo NY area for 6-7yrs now. I used one on my 2017 Ram 1500 years ago and didn't care for the application they did at all. Too thin and sparse. After a few weeks there was little...

2020 Ram 1500 Class SLT Crew Cab Paint bubbling

Sorry if I missed it, but have you had a dealer look at it? Getting them to address corrosion problems is always a problem, but I've had great success calmly and persistently sweet talking my way up the dealer management chain to get similar issues fixed in the past with Nissan and Ford...

    ATF drain question

Your ZF8 has a drain plug on the plastic pan, although it's partially blocked by an exhaust cross-over pipe on most models. I've never heard of anyone trying to pump fluid out from the side mounted fill port. Not sure if it's a clear shot in there and you'd have to hook the hose downward and...

    V6 or V8?

That's true and I'm in the same age bracket. Having owned both a 2017 Ram 1500, quad cab, 4x4 w/ pentastar and then a 2019 Ram 1500 classic crew cab, 4x4 with hemi, both with 3.21 gears, my average tank to tank fuel economy was very close. The majority of my usage with both trucks was my 80...

    V6 Exhaust manifold bolts

It could be a broken rocker arm or lifter issue, but these problem aren't common on pentastar powered Ram 1500s, or you don't hear of it often at least. They've been putting them in the 1500s for 10yrs now. In terms of exhaust manifold bolts, there are no exhaust manifolds on pentastars. The...

    Buying From Hertz

I agree with you 100% I know rental co's are self insured, so you often won't find body work reported on a car fax. They used to do their own maintenance as well, but this was 30+yrs ago. I worked for Budget rent-a-car at the time. The thing with buying used in many cases is, the only...

    Buying From Hertz

@mjbrox113 This is exactly how I had purchased my 2019 Ram 1500 classic SLT 4x4, crew cab short box, hemi, except I had purchased it through Enterprise Car Sales back in June/July of 2020. This was when COVID was going strong and the rental fleets were in the midst of thinning their fleets...

    Brake clunking help

I see you're from Texas, so rust shouldn't be problem. I was going to suggest rust jacking on one or more of the brake pads and to be sure to lube up the parking brake actuators behind the rear rotors given the age/mileage. Not being in the rust belt means not so much of an issue for either.

5.7 Hemi "blew up" by dealership?

I hear you. I'd hate to jump back in the truck market at the moment, but still feel you'd be better off putting the ~$10K you'd put into this truck, plus what ever you could get for your 2015 towards something new/newer with a warranty. Does your 2015 have the dial shift 8spd or the 6spd...

5.7 Hemi "blew up" by dealership?

Last I knew, a "new" 5.7 hemi in the crate, direct from the Chyrsler mother ship was around $8500 alone. Add another couple grand for labor and incidentals. Is a 2015 Ram 1500 w/ 140K miles on it worth that kind of coin?

    Tire Pressure Module Question

Were the TPMS sensors OEM/Factory replacements or were they aftermarket? ~2015+ OEM replacement TPMS sensors are the way to go because no programming is needed. The truck will recognize and and sync itself up with them.

    Dial shifter = 8spd. Column shifter = 6spd.

    Job requires to sit

I'd be more concerned about my behind and physical (and maybe mental) health if I had to sit in my truck for 12hrs/day more than the engine oil. I hear you though.. I've had control room 12hr shift jobs where unless you get up for coffee or a bathroom break, you are sitting for 12+ hrs per shift.

Missing parts on New Ram Classic?

Mine did too. I'm thinking it was somewhere around 2020-21 when you started seeing classics w/out it. On my 2022 Nissan Frontier, the engine cover is made of foam rubber to soak up noise. It can double as a seat cushion or personal flotation device. I yanked it and threw it on a shelf in...
