I still have the original ones on my 2012, and no problems with any of them (knocking on wood). I figure if they go bad I will have the done next time I replace my tires (just did this in May last year so will be awhile). I figure in between I'll just use a gauge to check it periodically.
NOTE: Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 8,000 miles (13 000 km) or six months, whichever occurs first.

I do mine every 6 months regardless of miles. I travel a lot for work, and use rentals, so I never hit the mileage in the owners manual. It states every 6 months, so I follow that.
Could it be done...Possibly. I myself with the weight you looking at I'd consider upgrading the truck to a 2500, or going with a smaller RV. I'm just one that would rather have to much truck then not enough. Just my 2 cents on it.
