I can't stand the longhorn interior. And I don't care for the limited interior either. The colors and stitching. Just not a fan. Otherwise i'd go for it.
My keys always stay with me so there's never any danger of locking them in. And when out of my pocket they're always in the same place in the house. I've never locked my keys in a vehicle.
I'm kind of in the same boat. I may custom order a 23' 1500 crew cab with the long bed. Laramie. Loaded. I currently have a 15' Ram 2500 with the diesel and am currently pulling a travel trailer but we're planning on selling the trailer so I won't have any need for the larger ram with it's...
I went with the pioneer as I wanted wireless carplay and it turns out idatalink makes a factory GPS adapter for pioneer as well. I may pick that up at some point. My pioneer has built in nav which is actually surprisingly good. And of course the antenna can boost the phone navigation apps...
The center armrest USB will not work with carplay/android auto. The maestro USB for that also doesn't allow carplay/android auto. You have to use the USB on the back of the new headunit.
You have to use the supplied GPS antenna and microphone as the current installed stock ones will not work.
I tested today and switched to network mode. Not only did it work it sounds much better. Only made one minor tweak to the EQ and the sound is right where I want it.
Factory reset lets you choose between standard or network. The big question is which one. I'm using standard. I've read and watched videos on it and still can't decide. When I have more time I may just switch it to network and see what happens.
I actually really like the upgraded factory alpine system. Sounds perfect to me. Oh I’ve done all sorts of installs over the years in a variety of vehicles but I’m over that. Speakers, components, subs, amps, etc. Those days are behind me.
All I really wanted was wireless CarPlay. And an...
I wish there was a way to setup custom audio settings for each input. I go to CarPlay and listen to Spotify and there's way too much bass and it's super loud at the current volume level. Then I go to the HD radio and it's much quieter and there's no where near as much bass.
I can tweak the...
I found the issue. The schematics say to swap the white and green connectors if you have an amp which I do. This appears to be incorrect. I switched them back and now it works. I do have the upgrade alpine system. It does have amp. I found it, it's there.
I am replacing the 8.4 with the upgrade alpine factory audio system in my 2015 2500. I installed the idatalink maestro and their CH3 harness. I double checked the schematic to make sure it's all correct.
The sound coming out of the speakers is barely audible and very tinny. Like an old AM...
I watched a ton of videos on it and the resolution looked fine. 99% of car stereos don't have HD anyways. And without reading a novel on it or surfing the web I don't think the resolution matters all that much. I also saw an install in a Ram 1500 and it looked fine.
I just really wish it had...
It is a tough call. Pros and cons to everything. Kenwood has 7 new stereos coming out next month. 2 of them have HD screens. All 7 do wireless carplay/android auto. But it's the smallest screen option out of everything mentioned so far.
That's interesting. Crutchfield is listing it as "does not fit in your ram" Not sure why not. Best buy says it fits. What bezel are you using for it? Are you also installing the idatalink?
I see bestbuy has free installation and while I can do it myself this would certainly save me a headache.
