    Name that noise!?

Pull the serpentine belt and do and short run to see if the noise is gone. Is so the before replacing the belt check the idler pulley and water pump and all other pulleys for sloppiness.

I can take the heat...Give it to me straight

My 2010 Ram 4.7 now has 247000 and is still in excellent condition and looks like new too! (Headlights beginning to yellow a bit despite buffing). I am a retired aviation maintenance tech so I have ALWAYS done all my own maintenance. Everything I ever laid hands in got upgraded. Drilled...

    Air conditioning recharge?

You Might not need a charge. I have to reset the mixing doors on my 2010 periodically due to it starts Mixing heat with cool. This can be accomplished by with the engine running and the blower on the low setting (a/c off) press the recirc button and hold pressed for 10 seconds, release and then...

Will it last for the long haul?

I wouldn’t sweat the tick too much. Exploring mine just to get familiar with it after about 60,000 miles due to a slight tick at start up I found these 4.7 engines do not have lifters and therefore no possibility of lifter tick. I saw someone mention earlier in this thread that the 4.7 engines...

Will it last for the long haul?

The advantage I have (if any) is that about 95% of the miles have been highway. This truck has been all over the country! But still looks and runs like new.

Will it last for the long haul?

I should have been more forthcoming but was trying to be brief. I have also replaced both control arms/ball joint, all sway bar links/bushings and both front hubs. I’ve installed drilled slotted rotors and ceramic pads on all corners, the u-joints were replaced about 8,000 miles ago and the...

Will it last for the long haul?

My traveling days are over, after having been around the globe I am SICK of travel. I enjoy my garden my family and obviously from the mods, tinkering with our vehicles. Hers is a reliable backup in the event of downtime (Lexus IS350 modded to 384 HP)

Will it last for the long haul?

I have a 2010 1500 ST (4.7 4x2) that is close to 190,000 miles. I’ve been an aircraft mechanic all of my life so I’m not totally uninformed but I value the input of y’all here with respect to our trucks. Mine seems to be in top notch shape with no known issues. I bought it with 23,000 miles on...

What did you say when you saw your truck for the first time?

I specifically told the dealer anything but red. Red was all that was available. So red it is.

I was warned not to buy a Ram truck because of the transmission

No, I was told this would cause problems on these trucks so I never serviced the 2003 and have not serviced my 2010. I do take samples and have them analyzed at about 30,000 mile intervals and have never had any reports back of any results that indicate a change in wear characteristics.

I was warned not to buy a Ram truck because of the transmission

Mine is a 2010 with 180,000 miles and not one single problem!!!! About to trade it in but it’s a really hard decision. Just retired and need to be sure I have a vehicle that will take us through the duration. Totaled out my 2003 at 187,000 and the only problem I ever had with it was the...

Loaned it to my son in law to move when raining who totaled his Ram with it installed and I was not able to get it back. Can’t afford to replace it and miss it so badly! Front suspension!! Going crazy!

I’m with your foreman. New or not my first thought is improperly serviced shocks. Fluid on both sides of the shock will cause what you are describing. Not overly familiar with automotive struts but lots of aviation strut experience. I’ll be the first to admit that they may not necessarily...
