    Second caliper paint job

I had done a regular blue paint on my previous truck (totaled end of November). They were painted at least 3 months at that point with no issues. I'll try to remember to post updates.

    Second caliper paint job

Well, I finally got around to doing the calipers on this truck (my other truck was totaled back in November). I liked the anodized paint much better than the regular that I used on the first truck, and I did the exhaust tips as well. Thoughts? Overcast today, so I'll try to take some brighter...

    Gun Mounts

You make me laugh, because I'm not arguing against 'the facts'. My argument is against using statistically irrelevant scenarios to justify encouraging statistically unnecessary methodologies. My analogy to the extinguisher- moving it to the stove front is statistically irrelevant to saving a...

    Gun Mounts

You're looking at it more as a likelihood than as a [very]remote possibility. Your odds of being killed (in any year) during a carjacking (or road-rage attack) is roughly 1 in 1 million. Your odds of being hit by lightning in any one year is roughly the same. Do you carry a grounding rod with...

Yup. Hurt vs. Killed. There IS a huge difference.

    Gun Mounts

*Phew* My two cents: I'm a statistics kinda guy, but I don't do everything I do solely based on probability. If I did, I wouldn't own a gun. Personal preference. If you don't WANT a vehicle holster, don't get one. If you do, then get one. I can't recall ever reading (not saying it's NEVER...

Finally took the time to install a DeeZee assist on my replacement truck. Hands down the best $25 mod.

    Best Mods for Under $100

It's a fallacy brought on by movies and tv blurring out plates. For them it's a cheap 'insurance' policy against a suit for disseminating personal information. People came to believe it protects them against identity theft or a personal grudge. The DPPA of '94 makes us reasonably safe against...

My Write Up on the Folding Back Seat Mod

another thought... the right threaded die from a tap and die set on the end of the bolts will clean a lot of the threads up. I didn't have one the right size, or I would have done that.

My Write Up on the Folding Back Seat Mod

Like Ramm5.7 said, clean the bolts that stick thru (my '16 has 2, not sure about an '11). Use some penetrating oil for a couple of days, get a wire brush up there and clean the threads best you can, and then the longest handle ratchet wrench you have (use a pipe if you have to on the handle) to...

My Write Up on the Folding Back Seat Mod

Just finished my back seat mod. Works great. Excluding loosening the bolts, it took about 30 min. About those bolts... a word of advice about the back, out-side bolts: These two bolts are open air underneath the truck (you can see them poking thru the floor). Because of this, gunk and rust...

Alright, here's a question. Can this method be used to turn DRL's OFF? I just found out my truck was originally owned in Canada (used dealership didn't tell me that...surprise!), where DRL's are mandatory. Sounds straightforward, but nothing about vehicles are anymore...

    Recalls and Uconnect

I don't believe it's directly the fault of a specific update- unless they've updated the software version very recently, I'm sure they've done thousands of these recalls without no (or few) issues. I would say it locked up as a result of a bad software/hardware exit after programming, and the...

    Recalls and Uconnect

On Tues, I had my local dealer do the following recalls: U07 AutoPark Functionality U53 Occupant Restraint Control Module U61 Reprogram Powertrain Control Module U74 Tailgate Latch I noticed no issues with the truck on the way home that evening, however the next day, when I started the truck...
