Buying a 5000 lb truck and expecting great fuel mileage is a fantasy. There are many variables to consider, differential gearing, driving habits, tire make and type, quality of the fuel you use, stop and go driving, idling etc. The estimate for fuel mileage on the dash is just that, an estimate...
If you are able to get them easily, ceramic is the better choice. Brakes pads naturally get very hot when being used and this is when ceramic pads shine. You will get many recommendations on various brands, do your own homework and make the choice yours. The chamfer on brake pads is for noise...
My truck, I installed Cooper Discoverer at3, I do like the tire for sure...but if I did it again I would use Michelin ltx. They are long wearing, fuel efficient, great in the rain and quiet running. Tire types are a personal preference though.
That seems odd there is no kits available just because it is a v-6. Being careful nothing affects warranty...I am sure there must be after market manufacturers that could help with answers. Give it time here, someone will respond with a similar case and remedy no doubt.
Good for you finding that, apparently that is not a rare occurrence with those vents. Like mentioned, replacing the vents with new and improved if available. Luckily other than being an inconvenience...it worked out to be a cheap fix for you.
Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will find the answers you ask for here and get some good information too. Good luck with your new truck and I know you will get many years of enjoyment out of it. Don't forget pictures !
Welcome to the forum, I know you will have many years of fun driving and adding those things that make it personal to us. Don't forget pics as you go !
BakFlip makes a very high quality cover, I don't believe any of them are really inexpensive...but the price you do pay for a BakFlip assures you that you're getting your money's worth. The retractable ones are not ideal if you live in a cold climate, they freeze and then hard to open. Take time...
Selling used tires is always difficult for putting a price on them. Although they may have low mileage on them, in good condition...they are only worth what people are willing to spend. The advantage of selling for a good deal to them, lets you not have to store them and put up with weeks or...
"gofishn" is absolutely correct, nothing you can do will change payload. That particular vehicle is engineered and built to accommodate a certain weight and payload. Springs and tires only give a ride stance difference, your axles are the culprits that decide on what it can carry legally. The...
Good luck for you, glad to hear it is all working out with the new engine. You're right too, it was def cheaper going that route compared to buying new or newer. It can always be a dice roll with anything re-manufactured, but that doesn't say brand new wont fail also. Hope you get many good...
You won't find a big fuel savings, if any, between the hemi and the v-6. I think you would like the extra torque and hp of the 5.7. Gearing, 3.55 or 3.92 would do the job...but 3.21 would also work towing. The 8 speed compensates for the hwy gear 3.21 with different ratio's, hemi's like to...
High mileage is a hard sell, i have driven many high milers with good luck but i was also mechanic and looked hard and long at certain things. You do want the 8 speed for sure and the 8.4 inch radio might be a better buy too just to have mechanical switches and dials for heater, fan, radio etc.
I bought the trail ridge tow mirrors for power fold. I would of bought oem, but too costly. Benny here on the forum helped with all the extras i needed. Modules, switch etc. You cannot remove motors out of standard mirrors to use in new mirrors that were not originally designed for power fold...
It is true about MADDOG's advice on the tuner. You are supposed to bring back to stock before any upgrades made by the dealerships. Their programming over rides your tune and brings it back to oem specs with any repairs or upgrades. The bully dog tuner now no longer recognizes your tune or the...
Tough call when purchasing exhaust without hearing in person, i know that too well. Youtube never has an ideal sound to listen for either. The last few Rams i owned, i installed Flow Master 40 series muffler. I like the rumble and it does bring that hemi to life. You do get a little drone on the...
Everyone is right, do not drive it. 5000 lbs of Ram requires more than just a partial connection at those points. It is a safety factor to have it towed at their expense.
