Mix door not closing completely
I didn't realize that a 97 used stepper motors in the HVAC system. My 98 blend door was cable driven and the rest was all vacuum actuated. -
Back seat and back doors
My drivers side door gets stuck all the time due to rust. So I have been in your spot a few times. From what I have found so far when mine gets stuck there are 2 ways the latch is operated. The Cable from the inner door panel will pull on the center latch mechanism which will rotate a rod down... -

The BCM would be different as it is a gas truck going to a diesel 12v. But the 98 dash should hook up mostly with maybe some plug differences. The 98 dash still has Vac heater controls and a cable driven blend door. In 99 or 00 they went to stepper motors for the blend door but kept the vent... -

Sadly on my system it did. So now i have a high beam light all the time lol Even on an aftermarket clear lens the LED doesn't help? thats a bummer.- Bigtman07

Mild hiccups when accelerating
It almost sounds like either 1: you have an injector cutting out/cracking 2: possibly the transmission slipping. Its a remote possibility but could be the VP having Air in the lines. I had a similar issue before I ditched the Raptor and went to FASS. Mine turned out to be air in my lines.- Bigtman07

Personally I went the Retro route on my truck. I wall agree it can be a bit of a headache. One being if you have factory fogs the highbeams light will come on if you turn the fogs on. Broken transmission side 8pin connector
Now that is some serious trouble and troubleshooting for sure! I can't think of anything off hand that would snap the connector like that. Possibly and its a remote possibility is that maybe the wire is getting caught on the shift linkage and putting stress on it till the plastic breaks off.- Bigtman07

ABS/ Brake light on
you are doing better with your O'Reilys than mine lol Mine only reads OBD2 basic codes. but i too have chased these gremlins. What i found for my issues is either 1: The sensor is dirty in the hub. 2: There is a pinch or a rub in the sensor wire. I have only gotten a bad sensor once. -

The Axles on these trucks use what is referred to as a CAD or Center Axle Disconnect. That being said in 2wd the gear to the front drive shaft is disengaged from the Transfercase chain. but on the Axle only one side is disconnected by a vacuum actuator. So this means that one side is still... -

Typically its a gas cap not sealing all the way. But its a small leak detection so most likely just a fuzz out of range for the sensor to trip the light. If you reset the codes how long does it take before the code returns? -
Bought a 99 2500 V10 Need advice
Well Congrats on your new to you truck! V10's are getting harder to find. I'd imagine that it has the 47RE Long tail if its an auto. Long tail just meaning the overdrive has a long output shaft for the 2wd and no transfer case. The bands do require a pan drop. Not sure how much a shop would...- Bigtman07

What is this?
I have seen the plug but never seen it actually connected to anything. My 98 had the same thing. Never did figure out what it was for and mine was unplugged just dangling.- Bigtman07

Totally agree with pepper. Looks like they added a 2” block to the back. Looks like the U-Bolts might be a bit big. Should probably get some shorter ones of those. The spacer up front is upside down. Flip that over and get an alignment and you’ll feel a bit better driving it.- Bigtman07

Well sounds like she got an interesting one. From what I know the 02 was the last with the 47re. the 03 and up i think are the 48re. Which is slightly different bolt pattern and is all electronic. The 47re only has electric lockup I believe. As for the steering I can get you some pics of stock...- Bigtman07

I believe there are some similarities. I think that some of the routing of lines may be different. But I would say the block and things should be similar or the same. -
2001 Dodge 5.9 tapping
Congrats on the new rig! That's a pretty good deal. Little known fact the 5.2 and 5.9 are basically the same engine. Only difference is the stroke and I believe some external balancing. Other than that pretty straight forward to work on. I'd say change the oil first with a little heavier and see...- Bigtman07

Always had one piece lenses on my trucks. Never had an issue. Set I have now had the Retro Treatment. Other than they are getting old and faded worked great. I agree on smoked though. If you like to see at night smoked is not fun.- Bigtman07

Brake Troubles
See if any of these number match what you have. I highly doubt I can get them at the parts store. It's probably all dealer only stuff but here goes... In the above image the part that is messed up on mine is the Adjuster lever. In the process of trying to find a picture I came across an ebay... -

Thanks Merc! Well after beating my head into the wall I figured out what it was... I am an idiot... When I first pulled the drum off to change the wheel cylinder the brake adjuster wasn't where it should be. It was just kinda laying in the pads area. I put it where it belongs without another... -

No worries Merc. I'll get it all figured out eventually. Only reason I know of the larger wheel cylinders is the diesel pulling guys do that change because of the larger tires they run and it fits all 3 sizes. I'm going to bleed the brakes again tonight and hope for more air out of the system. -

I checked my manual and it just talks about the wheels. I'm not sure there is a way. But i bled the system again and this time i found some air. Finally some progress! Now it only takes 2 pumps while driving to get brakes. lol Seems though the right rear line or the rears in general have air... -

LAst night I bled the master cylinder so it has no air in it. So i have air somewhere else too. The calipers and wheel cylinders still pass fluid. So I either need to keep bleeding them or there is air in my proportioning valve or my abs. Any idea how to bleed those?
