Oil change mess prevention question.
I used a transmission funnel under the filter down to a drain pan. Dropped the filter into the funnel. No mess. -

I had the same issue with my 2 wheel drive. After scanning, it turned out to be the steering wheel position sensor. Had it re-aligned and that took care of the problem.
