Mine were leaking but not covered because of the mileage on the van. My dealer has been pretty good about getting things covered so I tend to believe his explanation.
Shocks are easy enough to replace I would just do them myself if they aren't covered. The struts on the van are a bit harder...
You can buy dry urea from any place the sells bulk fertilizer. Mix with distilled water in the right proportions and you have DEF.
Problem is fertilizer grade UREA may not be pure enough to keep contaminates out of the system that could cause issues with the system.
That would be my concern with any Plugin hybrid. Gas is only stable for about six months before it needs to be run out. Even with stabilizer I would be concerned going over a year.
Connected to the driver seat module with Alfa OBD and MX+ on my 18 and the threshold was set to 4C (39.2F). It wouldn't allow me to change it though. Kept getting a blocked by security error. (I have the unlock cable and have done a bunch of body module updates.) Any idea on the security issue?
I have a friend that had it done on his 17 2500 while it was in getting a new VGT actuator that had failed. He doesn't keep explicit logs on Mileage or DEF usage but he said he isn't seeing any difference that are jumping out saying there is a difference.
Check you owners manual and make sure you are running the correct oil viscosity grade for the low temps you are expecting. Preferably run a full synthetic oil as they flow better when cold. Crankcase heater will make starting easier but if you are running the correct oil it isn't really...
States that do vehicle inspections can easily implement mileage based fees. The miles of the vehicle are already recorded as part of the inspection. States that don't do inspections would just need to require miles to be certified as part of the registration process.
Now getting the...
You would probably get to the point you need to drive it on gas mode to make sure the fuel doesn't go bad. The E10 that a lot of places mandate will stat going bad by six months. That would my biggest concern with any plug in hybrid and this truck with the extended battery range would be the...
Condensation really isn't an issue. DEF is about 70% water anyway so the condensation is just the water that evaporated out of the DEF going back into the DEF.
The AGM upfront cost is cheaper; however, if you look at the cost over 8-10 years or 3-5000 Full discharge cycles the LiFePO4 batteries are actually much cheaper. Over the life expectancy of a LiFePO4 battery you will consume 3-4 AGM batteries.
We are in total agreement on the Rears. The jam pressures are way high for unload.
I'm saying that the fronts are close enough as there is only about 5-600 lb axle weight difference between unloaded and rated GAWR, at least with a Cummins up there.
The Door jam pressure is usually pretty close to ideal with a margin of error on the front axle. For my 3500 the door jam was 80 psi but after weighting the truck and looking at the load tables the minimum pressure for the Axle Weight was 72psi. So now I run about 78. Unless the person is...
Easy starting point for your tire pressure. Pull the tire size and pressures off the door jam and plug them into this Tire Pressure Calculator. I would run the rears lower than the door jam pressure as that pressure assumes the truck is fully loaded. For a LT315/70-17 I would probably start at...
There are a few that require brakes on a 1500lb trailer.
There are a bunch of states that require trailer brakes starting at 3000lb.
Trailer Brake Laws by state
Work done at one dealer is honored by all dealers. Had a #4 injector line on my 5.9 replaced by a dealer in Canada and when the line failed again within the warranty period a dealer in Tulsa honored the warranty.
I had front and rear Detroit soft lockers in my Jeep Cherokee. I didn't have the CAD axles and I didn't realize how much the front Detroit affected the steering until I put on front locking hubs. While it wasn't bad to drive without the hubs it did make the turning a bit heavier, especially in...
