It is but in 2wd it's only transmitting straight through the transmission. Anything turning in the t case while in 2wd is just the film strength of oil allowing it to frewheel or if you're moving the front driveshaft back feeding into the t case. It's chain driven gears went away long ago.. That said you should only feel that slack in 4x4 if it were the t case as the rear side of things is directly driven.. I'd Definately be doing compression tests, checking for engine codes with a scanner seeing if there were any history codes that don't illuminate the cel. I understand what you're trying to do but not sure why you're worried, especially being in spec. If you don't have death wobble wouldnt worry at all. Caster causes no wear just toe and camber.- Brandon-w

Well if you're a little psycho like me you fill it half with fuel and gas, pressure it up and let it go remotely with a candle or fire going becide it. It launches into the air expelling all of the flammable material and it makes a wicked line of fire almost as high as it goes dangerous yes... -

Try getting alfaobd and torque, torque is free and gives you so many parameters to monitor. It's android based. This is a cheap way to get you in the ballpark without expensive scanners and stuff. Do you hear the fuel pump kick on when you turn the key on?- Brandon-w

4X4 Problem
Sounds like it's a snapped cv axle. 4x4 is likely not working at all Either. You can take it apart but my guess is the cage in the outer axle is broken.- Brandon-w
