For the guys who think deactivating the mds via a tune is a good idea

Still trying to understand this better. So what I’m hearing is if you leave mds on, the 4 lifters get the lube that they need cause they are closed. If you turn it off they don’t. So are the 4 that stay open when mds is on not getting lubed ever? And if they are getting lubed, how come when...

My baby is going in for elective surgery

Update: All work has been completed. Truck running great. For 111,000 mi, mechanic was surprised how good everything he replaced looked. Plugs had average wear and looked pretty good. Most of the suspension parts had normal wear but nothing concerning. Only part to fail was one of the tie...

For the guys who think deactivating the mds via a tune is a good idea

Seems like 2 schools of thought on this. I personally think owning an 8 cylinder and having all 8 cylinders on all the time is the way to go. I believe having 4 off, and would be off a lot if you do a lot of local driving, can’t be good and would promote uneven wear. I have 114k mi on my...

For the guys who think deactivating the mds via a tune is a good idea

I turn off mds with the gear up and down as second nature as soon as I put it in drive. I don’t like the sluggish feeling and drone sound. My understanding with mds is that it runs on 4 cylinders until under load then they all open up. Don’t see how not running all 8 all the time to promote...

Will aftermarket 17 inch rims fit on a 2020 Ram 1500 Classic?

What is the backspace specs for the stock 20 inch rims. I have the rims now that you can see in my profile pic. Thinking about going with a 285/70/17 tire. Pulling my hair out trying to figure what the specs are for a 17 inch rim that will mount close to stock.. I’m seeing offset, backspace...

    Front Struts Replacement?

My 2016 1500 hit 111,000mi and is currently in the shop getting bumper to bumper suspension swap. Out with the old in with the new. I would love the bilsten5100 but don’t drive it much anymore. I went with the monroe magnum strut and spring complete assembly. Will see how it rides after they...

My baby is going in for elective surgery

I think my shocks are getting pretty bad and other work needed to be done so cheaper to replace now while all apart rather than go back in a few months and have them get under it again and since they are replacing the control arms, the struts had to come off there anyway. I didn’t want off the...

My baby is going in for elective surgery

I should have been a bit more clearer in my original post. I personally sourced all the items and just having them do the uninstall/install work. I did not want crappy parts off the local parts shops shelf. I was keeping cost in my mind as a factor so as much as I love a lot of the...

My baby is going in for elective surgery

2016 5.7 4x4. 110,000 mi. So it’s that time where she needs an overhaul. Im nervous. Trying a mechanic I have never used but was recommended. This is the first major work since I bought it so never had a need to have a steady mechanic. I’ve already purchased all of the below and just paying...

    2016 Strut assembly

Yes not an area to To go ”cheap” but a couple hundred to get everything vs $800-$900 for 2 struts is a significant difference. The link I posted was more for reference. There are several diff brands making the whole assembly for under $300 for a pair and was hoping others can weigh in on that...

gen 3 wiper cowl on gen 4

I like it but how do you change the wiper blades. Is it 3m taped on? How do you get snow and ice out from under it if packed up? On chance of snow\ice we put our wipers up to not freeze to windshield. Is that an option with this? Thanks.

    Hub assembly rear

So I want to replace the front hub assembly’s which I assume is a wheel bearing with the studs. (Correct me if I’m wrong). At the same time I want to do the rears. I don’t believe the rear is the same type of assembly. At least I can’t find. Can someone tell me what I should be looking for to...

    20x10 -19 wheel poke

So these seem like one of the standard factory ram rims on trucks of various years. Are these really the same rim size for all and if so, what is the offset of these stock rims.

    Aftermarket tire psi

The tire pressure rating listed on the doorframe says tires should be 39 max psi. If you get aftermarket tires like falken wildpeaks and the psi for the tire is listed at max 50, do you air them up to the max or stick with max 39 per the trucks specs. Thanks!

Help help!!! 6x9 Upgrade for 2017 Ram 1500 with Alpine

Kicker dash and front and rear doors. I needed to add resistors to dash speakers to adjust the ohms properly. Was pretty easy. Needed 1/4 inch spacers for the doors. Sound was night and day.
