I have noticed that the front seal is slinging a little oil. Upon further inspection the rubber wafer on the face of the harmonic dampener is starting to extrude out of the face of the dampener. Who's got the most miles on there truck!
Okay, I'll jump in on this one. I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4. It has 285000miles and I have always felt that the engine was about 1/2 done...maybe. Maybe only 33%. wonderful front u-joints....
Common mistake calling them U-joints. The 'U-Joints are more commonly associated with drive line drive shafts. Once the application makes it to an axle they are CV joints (but I knew what you meant).. -

I am going to replace the starter with a new one from OReilly's $201 delivered.. I think all indications point to the solenoid/starter. I am not going to mess with rebuilding or making it work. Thank you for your time to reply. Yes there is a clutch. I shall check the lock out switch. I defeated the clutch lock out switch on my Jeep so I would not have to unload the suspension in precarious situations, so I am familiar with the clutch lock out switch and it's function.- Apogee
