Check Engine Light - No Errors

Change the oil to a lighter weight and see if that helps. Maybe a 5w-20 or even a 0w-20.

There is another post here that says that for some reason broken valves on the 6 cylinder is more likely than other cylinders.

Try acetone on the metal and test it on the plastic and painted metal before you go hog wild.

Stumped! Anyone else have any idea.

My truck has 172k on the engine. Maybe I should invest in some cheap insurance and change all the valve springs and keepers.

Stumped! Anyone else have any idea.

Used 5.7 Hemis are common. You might go that route. Do a compression test, and borescope the cylinders and maybe replace the valve springs

    Keyless remote programmer

If you get a second remote, you need to program them both at once. If you do one and then do the other later, the first won't work.

Stumped! Anyone else have any idea.

The best way is to pull the water pump and harmonic balancer (and everything in the way) and timing chain cover and look at the condition of the timing chain and sprockets. If they are badly worn, it will be obvious. Chain will be very loose and teeth on the sprockets will be worn or missing.

Engine frozen? Could be the timing jumped and now the pistons are up against the open valves.

    2008 1500 5.7....not enough heat coming through??

The only way to see if the blend door is moving is to actually look at it while you are operating it. Unfortunately, that is nearly impossible. But 9 times out of ten if the hot water is circulating and the heater core isn't clogged with dust and dirt, it's the bland door. Buy a whole set of...

Why use a dealership for anything other than warranty work?

Sounds like a Vega, if you are old enough to remember them. They used silicon impregnated aluminum cylinders that wore out after 30,000 miles and made the body panels out of very thin steel to save weight so they were rusted out in 2 years. A total POS.

Why use a dealership for anything other than warranty work?

Most people don't have a business with a fleet of vehicles. They have one or two and have a tough time making ends meet and can't afford to have a car maintained at a dealership and out of commission for a day or two because they have to work. BTW, if a tranny fails after 40,000 miles, your...

2004 Diesel - Battery Power Drain

Get a clamp on DC amp meter, put it around the + cable, and remove the fuses one by one until you see a drop in amperage to determine which circuit is draining the battery.

    Problem with engine stumbling

I'm thinking the loop that controls the fuel mixture is wonky. My degree is in electrical engineering and a specialty in control loops. If I could get access to the PID paramters, I'd bet they need tweaking.

    Stalled, No Codes

As you say, I would suspect the quality of the fuel. And a nickel a gallon is not a great savings. However, almost all of the fuel from the various refineries flow through the same pipelines to common tanks where BP, Exxon, Texaco, and all the others get mixed together.
