Ticking intake manifold?
03 Dodge Ram 1500 w 4.7 engine 118,000 miles. I have a ticking noise coming from the left side of my intake manifold (verified w a stethoscope). Why would it be ticking? Loose timing chain?
The issue ended up being a bad chain tensioner. The chain was slapping against the plastic guide causing the ticking noise. Replaced chains,guides sprockets, and tensioners. No more ticking. Thank you to everyone who replied.- rigovasquez88

Loose timing chain?
It has the 4.7 engine. No hemi. Here is a video of the noise for reference. Sounds like a rattling chain noise when the engine revs up and then fast ticking at idle.- rigovasquez88

Loose bolt on valve cover
Recently discovered a loose bolt on my valve cover. Tried to tighten it but it just keeps spinning and doesnt tighten. I am going to get a helicoil kit to fix it. Engine ticking
RonJon - I used a stethoscope to pin point the noise to the passenger side valve cover. I opened it up but everything looks ok in there. No play on any of the rocker arms or lash adjusters that I could tell and the timing chain and guides looked good from what I could see. I guess I was hoping...- rigovasquez88

Engine ticking
Greg - On a cold start it is barely noticeable at first and gets progressively louder and faster as the engine warms up. Sometimes if I don't start the engine for like a week the tick is gone for about 5 minutes after startup. Its weird.- rigovasquez88
