Check out all the quality info supplied by Burla in the synthetic oil posts.
I purchased a used RAM several years ago and immediately went with QSUD which is now just called QS Synthetic, and went with the larger Royal Purple filter 20-820. Never had any tick issues in the 20,000 miles I have...
Have a 2008 with a great paint job but just noticed 3 bubbles in the paint over a rear wheel well.
Must be rust forming underneath and would certainly like to take care of it promptly as there is nothing else wrong with the truck. I'm in my mid-70s so there's not a lot of DIY that I could...
I notice you are in Nebraska, and so am I. While we are cold weather in winter, we are 95 degrees and 90% humidity from May to September, so I have been reluctant to go to 0W30 year round. Hoping Burla can offer his opinion knowing that we go from 10 degrees to 95+ for many months here in...
Help please, what is s1-1 fuel cleaner? And your suggestion is Redline trans and differential fluid, and perhaps stick with current oil? (QSUD) Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the review, I did order from Gator in FL and while the price has gone up about $100, they gave me 10% off and free shipping so a great price in comparison to what is out there from other brands. There will at least be two in Omaha now.
Looks like you have a Royal Purple 10-48 in your Durango? I thought all used a 20-820. Just curious as I am about to buy several of them to have on hand.
It has 110,000 miles and does NOT have a tick. I am not sure what might be a synthetic filter, and will read your thread. So maybe use M1 or qsud? at this juncture? BTW, thanks for your thoughtful replies to help folks out.
Burla,
for a 2008 hemi that I just picked up do you all recommend the 5/20 or 5/30 RL synthetic? I was thinking of using the Mopar oil filter as there seems to be variation on other popular brands. Thanks in advance.
This forum is great, so much valuable info.
I just picked up a 2008 RAM 5.7 hemi to tow a 2000 lb trailer and 2800 lb race car. The multi-page & heavy owners manual states clearly that there are 2 indents on the shifter - TOW & OD OFF. But it does not give hints to when to use which settting...
Searched the build sheet off the VIN to see how my used HEMI came from factory. It shows 3.92 rear gears which kind of surprised me, I was expecting something numerically lower.
How about other owners who have checked, is mine common or unusual?
