Upper ball joints are shot at 25K miles

And, the saga continues. One of the ball joints the dealer installed was bad, right out of the box. I took it back, they replaced it again and now it seems solid. Headed back the the alignment shop (for the 3rd time) to have them align it to Thuren's specifications and hopefully thats the end...

Upper ball joints are shot at 25K miles

Whelp, just finished at the dealer. They replaced the upper and lower ball joints on both side. All 4 joints were bad. Replaced under warranty.

Upper ball joints are shot at 25K miles

I live 1/2 mile down a dirt road that gets some washboard every now and then, but it's not a bad road by local standards. The only thing I can think of that might have contributed is the way the dealer aligned the truck after welding the stock track bar and sending me home on day 1. They set...

2014 Ram 2500 Caster way off

your truck looks nice! I see your in Colorado so I'll throw this out there. I had my truck in to All Around Auto Care in Castle Rock earlier this week for an alignment. Tyler, their alignment guy was well informed, drives a Ram himself and showed me what was up with my truck before sending me...

    DEF expiration date?

I did see an expiration date on the DEF being sold at Murdochs. I don't see this on some other bottles. FYI, 2.5g of DEF at Walmart runs about $9

Upper ball joints are shot at 25K miles

I'm pretty sharp when it comes to mechanical stuff. And the alignment guy invited me into the service bay to show me exactly why doing an alignment was going to be a waste of money. I'll report back after my trip to the dealer, but I'm pretty sure this is a case of ball joint failure.

2014 Ram 2500 Caster way off

That much caster makes me think you've got the suspension setup for a Carolina Squat look. Is that what's going on here?

Upper ball joints are shot at 25K miles

I talked to the dealer about warranty work before installing the lift. He said 3"+ voids the warranty. I went 2" so well within allowable. Also, I took it in before and after the install to open a case for replacing the adjustable drag link that they welded as part of a earlier service...

Upper ball joints are shot at 25K miles

2018 2500 4x4 CTD with 25K miles. I installed a Thuren 2" leveling kit last weekend and took the truck to to shop for an alignment and the tech calls me back where my truck is sitting on the rack and he says, "I can't align this in the state it's in". With the front axle holding the weight of...

    18 2500 CTD - sloppy gear engagement

thx. If it's normal then it's tollerable. But if its just another programming issue that dodge has then I was going to get it taken care of.

    18 2500 CTD - sloppy gear engagement

I just turned 10,000 miles on my 2018 2500 CTD 4X4. I use this vehicle for pleasure and long road trips, not heavy towing. I'm noticing that when it shifts into 5th and 6th, its like the clutches engage in 3-4 distinct steps rather than a smooth transition. Sort of like it bounces into gear...

    Auto Dimming rearview mirror?

OP here, Ive got the towing mirrors as seen on the truck in my avatar. so, no dimming on tow mirrors?

    Auto Dimming rearview mirror?

Those of you with auto dimming rear view mirror option, do your side mirrors dim, or just your interior one? My old ford dimmed all 3 mirrors, but my Ram only dims the interior one. I'm wondering if this was how it's designed or if there is a flaw in my truck.

was about to click buy - Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac

My test platform for tires was a ‘13 F150 crew cab 4x4, so similar size and weight to Ram 1500. I went through 4 sets of tires over 200,000 miles here in Colorado. Some stock crap, Duratrac 275/65/18 E load range, Michelin LTX M/S 275/65/18 load range SL, Duratrac 275/65/18 E. Comparing the...

    Transforce T/A

I’m probably preaching to the choir here, but holy crap! These 4K mile tires might as well be fully bald with how poorly they perform on 2” of snow. I had to use 4WD to pull out of my flat dirt driveway this morning. I jumped onto TireRack.com to see how others rated the tires and I was...

    On Center steering feel?

I picked up a leftover 2018 2500 4x4 CTD a short while ago. While running fast down the interstate (75-85mph) it seems like there is very little steering feel when driving straight. If you imagine a 360* protractor, I have about 20* of steering wheel movement with very little steering change...

    Re: Off-Road tire pressures

There’s so many variables when wheeling. Truck weight, tire build, driving style, etc. If I were in your shoes, I’d start by lowering the pressure until you have a nice flat contact patch that’s about 4” long. Then I’d have someone drive slowly over a street curb at a 45* angle and watch how...

    Auto High Beam issue

If auto high beams is selected in Uconnect and the stalk is forward then the auto high should work. On my 2018 I get a message on the dash when pushing the stalk forward and the high beams revert to low beam when vehicle speed is about 10mph or slower. also make sure there is nothing...

Does anyone here have the titan aux fuel tank?

Any plastic that's exposed to the sun and weather long enough is at risk for failure. I'd personally go with a metal tank.

    Brake bedding on new vehicles?

whenever I replace brakes and rotors, I always go through a bedding procedure to make sure everything seats correctly. But I’ve never done the same thing on new vehicles. I’m curious if any of you bed in your brakes on new trucks?

DEF volume for low use vehicle?

I only plan on driving my CTD powered 2500 around 12k miles a year. Not sure how many miles one can get from a tank of DEF, but I have read about it going bad over time. So I’m wondering if I should run the def tank from 1/2-0 then refill with a couple gallons, or if I should try to keep it...

    Off road woes need advice

Circling back to your original question: - find a local off-road shop with an RTI ramp. You’ll be able to fully flex your suspension and find the shortcomings. It’ll allow you to determine if you need bump stops, smaller tires or more lift. - consider driving slower. Less stuff will break -...

    Towing after gear swap question

I agree that 4:88 seems too low. If your motor is screaming at 65mph in 5th gear, then you need to use 6th gear, and if the TC isn't locking up in 6th gear then you are going to smoke the TC. If it were my truck, I'd just keep the display showing the trans temp and moderate your T/H mode use...
