Mine us still there too. Dealer and FCA engineers sent some "known good" mounts they had tested on a factory new truck. Installed them and it still rattles.
No resolution. I got tired of leaving my truck there about half the first few months I owned it. Trying hard to just ignore it but it makes me mad every time it rattles. I can't understand why they can't resolve this when they know what it is.
Ironic story - FCA gave me three years of...
That sounds like it's right. My service advisor said the electronic ears were pinpointing the noise to that rear cab mount. I asked if Gen4 mounts could be substituted but no answer. It's maddening and guys are getting little relief. I think your write up is the best one on the forum to...
Mine just turned 6k miles. I don't know if its the warmer weather or something "wore in" but my rattle has subsided. I've done nothing to the truck and no suspension or tires. It always was worse in colder weather and was better when it rained and the underside was wet. The dealer had...
There have been enough owners who have complained about this exact noise. This is not something new and platitudes about helping with your dealer is simply inadequate. FCA must step up and get a fix for this. Help us, please. We are loyal and patient, but there's a limit.
That sounds like the noise - like Cummins3, I'm only hearing it when I'm inside the cab. But it's like that clunk then rattle sound over small bumps. Crappy can mounts like they told me? What do you think after this experiment?
I haven't done that but want to. I think either the cab or the bed flexes a lot over those bumps but i can't tell which by looking in the mirrors. I told them it seemed to be the bed since it happens when the REAR wheels hit the bumps, but they tell me it's not. Im not feeling the faith...
There is a lot out there on rattle/ clunk when wheel is turned or going over uneven surfaces, like turning into driveway from different level pavement.
This clunk happens at low top medium speeds over bumps while going straight. Seems to happen when rear wheels hit thr bump. One guy...
They tried that crap with me but i learned they can put an electronic listening device on the frame that isolates the source of the noise. It even measures the frequency changes as they make corrections and adjustments. If they work at it they'll find something. I had to get FCA care...
Bad batch question was one i asked. I don't get the sense that they can identify it very well. They didn't say, but maybe these just have a high failure rate. The ones they fixed my truck with were tested on another truck first and then put on mine as "known good" parts. I don't know...
All the suspension parts were checked and re torqued to tolerance. Never thought about frame. They seemed to think this was a bad batch of cab mounts. I don't think they all do it. I'll bet it was a certain run of trucks. I'll also bet they change their mind on using that type of mount...
They checked that and another noise dampening module. No dice. They were pretty convinced it was cab mounts. Trouble is, even replacing them has been no permanent fix. Wish I could try something aftermarket with a different construction to see if that fixes it. It is better, and it may be...
One of the problems for me was they couldn't figure it out. FCA Star engineers were even involved. I'm not happy that th3r noise is back. Gotta start the whole process over again
Since the day I started this thread, they "fixed" the problem and it did go away for a couple months. The clunk is now back, although not as bad. My truck has only 4000 miles. I will be taking it back in. Clunk not as bad when it is cold or wet. Don't know why that is.
Rather than...
Interesting about the heated mirrors. My Gen 5 2500 tradesman has heated mirrors, but no rear windshield defrost. Seems weird to me, although i guess they might figure you don't need the rear window clear cause you're towing (?)
My 2500 Tradesman is for towing my toys and I'm not all that interested in it being "plush".
1 - But they should eliminate the 5 inch screen - it doesn't even have Siriux XM and won't accommodate it.
2 - the liquid mounted cab mounts on the Gen 5 heavy duty are really noisy and they rattle...
When i bought the truck before the one I have now, i financed through the dealer. They blasted my credit app out to fifteen (15) separate lenders. That put 15 hard pulls on my credit! They are all supposed to count as "one" pull if done within two weeks to allow rate shopping. Tell that...
There was one poster on here that nailed it for me. He said it sounds like that noise you hear when moving a refrigerator or freezer and the compressor clunks, then rattles. That was mine. After six weeks of fighting and shop time, it was good when I picked it up. Now there is a slight...
Lee - the exhaust is great. I really enjoy driving it and ot sounds really mean. Loving it. I did hold off on putting the louder muffler on cause i didn't want any crap about that being involved in my noise problem. I went and shook hands with the service manger and revised my review of...
