You can now feel the truck want to straighten itself out when leaving a tight corner with both tires putting down power.
I did buy that diff that was listed with that link. The included rebuild kit was also high quality with good bearings.
As for labor, I really took my time and got it done...
I almost forget, the truck now leaves two stripes of r.ubber as she should have from the beginning! The limited slip is quiet but seems to distribute torque to the opposite tire with ease. I love the driveability!
Also, I was only able to add 2 quarts of fluid with the factor fill hole on the front left side of the axle housing. The fill hole seems to be too low and lets the fluid run out before you can add all of the recommended 4.9 pints! This must be why there was a recall to add a fill hole higher...
I had a lot of fun installing the limited slip! The diff came in a Yukon box, not sure why it's not advertised as Yukon Gear on eBay.
I only swapped the diff. The bearings looked great on the pinion along with all the seals, the truck has 90k miles without much towing so I didn't bother...
'm loving the refresh on my 2012 Ram 1500, I just rebuilt the front suspension with new Icon Stage2 Coil-overs and some boxed upper control arms. For Labor Day, I did some pretty gnarly trail riding and loved the extra clearance and traction from my new 35"s. There was one casualty as I did...
Where i used to keep mine as well. I've since remounted mine. Mine looks beat up in the that pic but i recently took it apart and repainted it which can be done easily. This style of light bar puts off a ton of light, is awesome offroad.
To barely clear 35x12.5 tires, I'm running 0mm offset 17x9s. The stock 20's are -19mm offset. I have about half an inch of clearance between my wider tires and the upper control arm.
Level pic... i kept the front coil-overs turned at whatever they were shipped at, they could be raised another inch.
There's a before pic with the stock height too.
Go do a 0-60 test with a gforce speed app on your phone, see how it compares to published 0-60 times for your truck. The average time seems to be 8.5 seconds for the 2500 with a 5.7L. A 1500 5.7L runs significantly quicker with less weight, 5.5-6.5 seconds.
I had a 2005 Duramax before my 2012...
It would have been fairly easy but the strut bushing on the right lower control arm was bad and the bolt had frozen to the inner bolt sleeve (the entire bushing was rotating inside the sleave with the bolt). I had to use the sawzall to cut off the bolt at each end and then remove the entire...
My old suspension was soft and had settled a good inch below stock. The new coil-overs are fairly firm but better at soaking up the big bumps. The big 35's are heavy but the shocks seem to be handling them well.
I've popped a CV axle while trying to get through some rocky stuff due to using a bit too much momentum because of the open rear diff.
With my 35's and 3.55 gears, my truck could really use some shorter gearing.
Plus, -2009 used-front diff carrier assemblies are getting pretty cheap. It's...
