The way I have the factory stereo setup in my 2003 Ram, is by using a iSIMPLE PXDP/PXHCH3 with DIP switches 4 and 8 switched down. The rest are switched up. Then I just attach an iPod-to-bluetooth adapter on the end. The factory stereo recognizes this as an outboard CD changer and works...
Basically yes. The PCI system was a very short run in Mopars. You are basically looking at 2002 thu 2004 or 2005 depending on the Mopar. There might be some older units on eBay that will work, but a universal programmable adapter is likely your best shot.
Disabling the SKIM on these 2003/2004 Rams is very easy. Take the cover off the steering column and zip-tie one of the chipped keys next to the ring on the module. Then put the cover back on. After that, you can use any number of regular keys cut from one of the chipped keys. The fobs will...
I love my 2003 Dodge Ram. But I wish it had automatic headlights. I don't believe that was an option in 2003. But surely, someone has found a way to add it either using factory parts or an aftermarket kit. Please let me know your experience and/or advice on this. :)
New BF Goodrich "shoes" for the wife's Laramie!
Went up to 275/60R20's. Slight rub from the front bottom corner of the front fender liner on the right side during a tight left turn. It was dark already so I just used a zip tie to tuck it back against the frame. Plenty of clearance now. The...
I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD Quadcab 4.7 V8 with 260,000 miles. It has 4-wheel disc brake and rear-wheel ABS. There are good pads on the back, new pads on the front, new master cylinder and the fluid has been flushed twice, three weeks ago. The system has no leaks whatsoever. Fluid is...
Today, I installed new rear door speakers in my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 that I bought new in November 2002. The rear door speakers are 6.5 inch Kicker CSC65". Along with the new Kicker ESC693 6x9 inches speakers I recently put in the front doors, these give me up to 300 peak watts and 100 watts...
Replaced my blown OEM door speakers with Kicker ES693 6x9s. Cost was $79.84 plus tax at Walmart. They sound much better than then the original speakers, which only lasted me 19 years and 11 months. I wonder if the Kickers will last that long?
I went ahead and ordered some CSC65 6.5" speakers...
Got my new LED tail lights install yesterday evening. Here are some photos. Note that the "neon-looking" parts actually appear red. For some reason, my cell phone camera makes them seem orange.
I used Auxito brand LED bulbs for the reverse lights. These are about $20 a pair. But they...
I've used them in the taillights on my 2006 Dodge Charger Dayton for a long time. They work very well in those housings and considerably change the look of the tail lights at night. But they set off the PCI system in my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. Here are the ones I used in the Charger...
I have tried LED tail light bulbs before in my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. But the PCI system makes them burn dimly even when the light switch is turned off. Additionally, I get a "Lamp Out" light on the dash. I tried some 6 ohm resistors, but it didn't help. Is there a LED bulb solution for these...
The way the suspension is made, bottoming-out would not be the issue. It would be not having enough shock absorber when fully extended. When I did the lift, I got some new front shocks as well. They are OEM style Monroe Gas-Matic LT shocks. They are slightly longer than the original ones...
I decided not to get a new oil pump. Changing it would mean pulling the oil pan to remove the pickup tube. I was only going to replace the oil pump because I thought it would be easy to do with the timing components removed. But since the pan must be dropped too, it's not worth it. I still...
Just added a set of new lifters to my parts list. Power Seal (formerly Federal-Mogul) is known for quality lifters. And at $19.99 for a 4-pack, I snagged all four packs.
Here in 2021, what are the best parts to use when doing a 4.7L valve train refresh in a 2003 Ram 1500? At 260,000 miles, the chain in my 4.7L is getting loud. So far I've obtained a set of HO camshafts, an HO intake manifold and a set of used 2005 or newer rockers with the smaller oil holes...
