Does the orange washer fluid still mess up Rams and Jeeps sensor?

I run whatever is on sale, I'm sure I've had all the colours of the rainbow in there. No problems.

    Idle hours VS drive hours

Yes I have a block heater, I only use it when it's colder than -15°C

    Idle hours VS drive hours

My hours are wrong on my cluster but I'm sure I have pretty much no idle hours. My truck lives on the highway and I never idle it, even at -40 I start it and drive as soon as the RPMs drop down. I don't do drive throughs, I don't have any traffic lights on my commutes. If I'm stopping for more...

Uncle Tony SPEAKS on cam and lifter failure in 5.7 hemi

If you sit in drive idling longer it'll drop down, when you initially get to idle it takes a couple minutes to drop.

    Lifter Replacement.

There's another member on here that had the failure, rebuilt the engine with an aftermarket cam and lifters to delete MDS and then had the same failure a year later. The failure happens to the 5.7 in the 2500/3500 engines which don't have MDS, it also happens to the manual transmission 5.7 that...

Uncle Tony SPEAKS on cam and lifter failure in 5.7 hemi

I finally got a chance to listen to this with the sound up, glad to hear he's basically saying what I've been speculating for years now. Glad I've been driving in a way where my engine is almost never below 1500rpm this whole time, I always figured just putting along at barely above idle was bad...

Has anyone else noticed the coolant and oil temps reading the same?

Mine always read close but usually they're a couple degrees apart, so two different sensors.

    Cluster Swap

You can, if memory serves me right it's in the settings on the radio menu. Maybe it got defaulted to off when they changed the cluster?

Have you made sure that it's still on in the settings?

    Making Sense of Towing Numbers

You have your math right. Your tow capacity is how much trailer weight you can pull. You could also look at the GCWR (gross combined weight rating, this is how much your entire setup can weigh including the truck), which is where the trailer weight comes from. The tow capacity is basically your...

    Benefit of 8 speed?

I can't for the life of me find it again, but I remember reading an article about a year ago that hinted that ZF was already in the process of making an 8 speed transmission for the diesel heavy duty market. I would be not at all surprised if we saw an 8 speed Cummins in the near future.

    Trucks today

I'm hoping they still make the classic in a few years when I go buy again, or that there's more ability to option out a basic work truck in the 5th gen if they don't. I don't want all these fancy power options, I just want a 4x4 crew cab truck with a bed, maybe power windows. I don't need a...

    Odd shifting?

Yup, all speeds. If I leave it on I can hear it running at 30km/h and it'll even stay on while accelerating around corners if I'm light on the throttle.

    Mystery vibration at 50mph+

It depends on the tire, sometimes you'll find the tire is actually out of round with the Road Force balancer but generally it's just a matter of adjusting the weights.

    Mystery vibration at 50mph+

Have you had the tires balanced with a Road Force machine? I've had tires that balance perfectly on the traditional balancer, shown the exact same issue you're describing, and when on a Road Force balancer shown issues that otherwise wouldn't have been found.

    Odd shifting?

I think it's normal operation. If I remember correctly the MDS will activate and deactivate intermittently to prevent the 4 cylinders that deactivate from cooling down and creating issues. In terms of being able to feel it, it seems like some trucks/people are more sensitive to the MDS but I...

    Rear backup lights

It'll run under the cab somewhere but not into it. There's a vent on the back of the cab behind the rear seats that I usually run wires through that could get you up into it.

Clicking from electric trailer brakes with OEM 2018 Brake Controller; Normal?

Rams use the trailer brake circuit to check if there's a trailer connected. It will send a small pulse through the circuit, this is how the truck determines the towed mileage on the EVIC. You won't hear it on every trailer, but it's normal. GM uses the charge line to do this. Ford uses the...

    For the guys that tow

Yes, you should still use a WDH on a heavy duty truck. Like already said, you're still lifting the front axles by adding weight behind the rear axles. It's not as bad as with a 1500 truck, and you might not squat to the point where it looks bad but it's still happening. I'd also use sway...

Goodyear Wrangler SRA tires - can't go offroad at all?

Mine is an SRA just on a black rim, same ply rating as what was on the four corners of the truck when I bought it. Albeit it's a lower rating than what I put on the truck after I took those off, I'd trust it to get it where I need to go.
