Replace TMPS When Installing New Tires?

Currently have a car at home that is 10 years old with the original sensors, wife's previous vehicle was 11 years old when we sold it with the original sensors, and dad had a 12 year old truck with original sensors. Guess I understand where somebody is coming from wanting to change them before...

    Mirror towing turn signal lights

So you have actual tow mirrors, as in they flip out to a wider setting? I will say those are that common from the factory on a 1500. Just about every 1500 series trucks has a tow hitch and a trailer wiring harness, but very few have towing mirrors.

    Transmission Flush?

I have no issues with people doing a trans flush. As stated if you just pull the pan and filter you leave a lot of the old fluid in the system....but it's still better than nothing. However I usually recommend, and many shops do the same, of just flushing fresh trans fluid through the system...

    AGS Check Engine Light Nightmare

What is the specific code? Good chance there is more than one code in the AGS circuit that could be setting. Not sure what your experience or skill level is, but the proper way to test it is to get a test light or volt meter and check out the wires. You will need a diagram to see what wire is...

Can I tow it - Safely?

Oh yes, love the towing threads when the Payload Police and Towing Lawyers with a degree from Facebook U all show up. I will get some people fired up and make the statement that many people making replies probably have very little to no towing experience, and absolutely zero legal experience...

Does anyone know if you can add a factory trailer brake controller?

My previous truck had a Tekonsha P3 in it and current truck has the factory controller. In my opinion the factory integrated controller is smoother and easier to setup....just turn up how high you want the trailer brakes. But again, the factory integrated just feels way smoother and even. Not...

    Cruise Control Stopped Working

Need a few details of what is going on. Do you mean if you hit the cruise on switch on the steering wheel nothing happens? If so that is pretty common to have issues with that button and there have been dozens of post over the years talking about it. I have a '16 with the same issue. It will...

    Wiring Aux Backup Lamps

I believe the truck should have a separate reverse power wire already running to the back. So no need to tap into the trailer harness. I have a '16 that had that extra wire in the harness in the back passenger side, near the spare tire, that just ended and was taped off from the factory. It...

Removing and replacing fender flares on 2022 Power Wagon.

I wonder what year they started putting the holes in the fenders? On my '16 they were just held on with a few screws along the fender lip and double-sided tape. For rust prevention, you need to clean out the inside of the fender (between the fender and inner box) and spray it with something...

8HP Swap on 2018 and older PW?

All of these comments make me feel old but I'm "just" in my 40s as trucks only had 3 speeds when I was kid, 4 speeds with OD were just coming out when I got my license. Need to go drive trucks made just 10 years ago that still had 4 speed automatic trans if you want to talk about bad gear...

    Fluid Change after many miles?

Would be interested in knowing this for sure, but would suspect that you would have to force a relearn via a computer or higher level scan tool. I know when I was in the automotive engineering world 10+ years ago you had to do it through a computer or scan tool. Don't think you would want to...

    Upgrades capable of towing maximum

Pretty much agree. The J2807 doesn't take into account every aspect by any means. I pull an 18' tandem axle car hauler that weighs in loaded around 9k, but a 32' enclosed trailer that weighs 9k pulls much differently. However the J2807 at least gives a reasonable baseline. You could get as...

    2017

Ha, no kidding! My wife's minivan is rated to tow 3,500 lbs. Think the OP needs a 3500 dually diesel just to be on the safe side!

    2017

I mean, it's only a 2,000 lb. trailer. Everybody is WAY over thinking this. That is a tiny trailer and I doubt you would even know it's there unless it has a huge profile like a sail. Just to put this in perspective that would be a small single axle landscape trailer hauling a lawn mower.

    Multiple communication and voltage codes

Having that many codes from different modules and the descriptions leads me to believe they are all from a common source, and that is low voltage. I would drive the truck a little and try clearing out the codes again.

    Upgrades capable of towing maximum

The SAE J2807 trailer towing test does take into account handling, and just not acceleration and stopping. It has a section called "combination handling requirements". This includes testing to determine understeer (tongue or bed weight which unloads the front axle) and sway control. I agree...

    Fluid Change after many miles?

Exactly. The entire "don't change the fluid on a high mileage trans" is an old farmer's tale that comes from the exact situation stated by the original post. They have 150k miles with no fluid changes and a suspected slight shudder already. They change the fluid, the trans then completely...

    Upgrades capable of towing maximum

I would tend to say at least hook it up and see how it does. Not like the truck won't physically be able to move the trailer around. Back when I was in high school I worked on farms and construction companies that pulled trailers everyday. 140 hp straight sixes in 3500 dually work trucks...

6.4 Hemi 2500 Towing Advice, Please...

Thanks for the feedback. I was just assuming that adjusting the airbags would compensate for any issues with softer springs, but from your experience it sounds like they won't. When pulling a smaller trailer (1,000 lb. tongue weight) on the stock springs I didn't have excessive squat, but it...

    P0128 - Powertrain

With that variety of different random codes, and a lot of "loss communication" to various systems, my first suspicion would be a low battery. When you started it, and assuming it's cold outside, it took everything the battery had left to start the vehicle which caused a momentary low voltage...

    Remote Start

10 minutes is the industry standard for how long a vehicle will run after remote-starting. Most will let you remote start it a second time for another 10 minutes, but will not let you restart it anymore until after you actually get in the vehicle and drive. A lot of that is for safety (for...

    P0128 - Powertrain

As already mentioned, I would suspect the thermostat is stuck open and basically allowing over-cooling of the system. In normal conditions the thermostat would close/partially close and restrict how much cooling it has. Guessing the factory thermostat is probably closer to 200F rated? The...

6.4 Hemi 2500 Towing Advice, Please...

So the airbags themselves aren't enough support? I was thinking of going from the stock to the softer Thuren rear springs and just using my airbags to support any loads. With the stock springs I only run 45 psi in the bags, which can go up to 100 psi, to even it out with 1,700 lb. tongue load...

New to me 2018 Power Wagon, and new to me issues I could use some help sorting out

And I'm not sure, but having an ABS fault may prevent the lockers and swaybar from working. Again, not 100% sure but sometimes if the ECM shows an active fault of a certain category it will prevent certain components from working. Point is, I would resolve the ABS fault issue first and then...

New to me 2018 Power Wagon, and new to me issues I could use some help sorting out

For the ABS fault, you need have the code pulled and see exactly which one it is. There are dozens of different codes that will cause the ABS light on the dash to come on.
