    Another interesting oil concern…goofy??

Just another I don't other people work on my vehicles, there's no pill for stupidity. Does he still drive around on white walled tires?

Well that was unexpected ! Lifter gone 52,000 miles.

From all the research I've done, I'm confident it's a lack of lubrication on the roller of the lifter. This really became an issue when they raised the camshaft in the Gen IV's, with no additional lubrication to support. This push-rod engine is a very old design, using ultra modern low Moly...

    2014 Ram 5.7 Evap code

I had a similar issue that was resolved but taking off the solenoid valve (in the engine bay, cycling the valve with a 12V supply) and changing the gas cap. Just changing the gas cap didn't resolve the issue but I'd look there first.

Watch Idle Hours & Change Oil every 3k Miles to Avoid Engine Failure!!

Hi, I should have been more clear. I replaced the following: Cam shaft (MMX-NSR), lifters (all non-mds), pushrods, LT headers and the rest of the seals/bolts etc. required to do the job. Took me about 10 days working alone is a small garage in the middle of winter.

Watch Idle Hours & Change Oil every 3k Miles to Avoid Engine Failure!!

The lack of lube on the roller bearings is a well documented shortcoming of the current OHV design, failures resulted when they raised the camshaft and didn't allow sufficient lubrication on the cam-roller interface. I've got about 250 idle hours and 60kkm's, i inspected my roller bearings when...

    New Cam Questions

You'll find there isn't actually something called a "Hellcat Lifter". The non-MDS lifters are all the same (Since about 2016 I think), the part number suffix changed to AD from AC and are now universally used in everything (5.7, 6.2, 6.,1 etc) from about 2003. You'll probably want new pushrods...

    MDS at fault ?

If that’s truly the case I’d be very concerned about other areas of the build. I’m very surprised it’s not backfiring and throwing a code, as the solenoids are not there. I wouldn’t run it at all.

    Headers and Tune?

Hi, On the west side. I’ll keep an eye out for that and make a turn for sure. Thanks

When Not to Use Redline Thread

I want to trial something next summer. My 1500 5.7 ram has a mild cam and MDS delete, but still the MDS activating valves installed. I plan on putting blank plugs in place of the MDS valves in the hope that the high pressure oil pressurizing against solid lifters lubricates the lifters and...

Another Lifter Tick Thread...started when driving

It’s easy enough to check the bolts, this will confirm/eliminate the manifold from the equation.

    Headers and Tune?

Thanks, Over the past year I’ve experimented a lot with my engine and trans tune to the point I’m fairly comfortable with making changes. Mine runs awesome now, but there were many, many lessons along the way!

    Headers and Tune?

1 3/4 if you not going forced induction, 1 7/8 if you are for maximum scavenging. 2 I’d go email tuner if it’s a simple tune you after. I got one of those tunes with my cam and I had to do a lot of work afterwards to get it right. The email tunes will get you out the starting blocks. Mine was...

    Headers and Tune?

I installed 1 7/8” Kooks headers with HPTuner tuning and MMX NSR cam. Works really well now, I originally had a Diablo tuner with a well known email tuner that wasn’t a great experience. I installed the kooks header to avoid the dreaded log manifold bolts breaking again. The dipstick was a...

    Exhaust Manifolds | Warped

After my manifold bolts went on the OE stock units, I replaced with Kooks LT headers. Can't understand why they don't fix this issue.

    Best headers for 5.7?

I bought and installed the 1 7/8 Kooks headers, catted and Y-pipe. Quality was great, install was interesting. I had to cut the mounting tab in the oil dip tube, and bent that so that I didn’t have to remove the engine mount. I bought the headers to avoid the exhaust bolt replacements, but...

    2014 RAM 5.7 Cam install (8 speed)

Hi all, first post here but have been perusing the board for a while, great info here. I thought the first post would be some feedback on the cam I installed this month. Cam install was MMX NSR for the RAM (incl. lifters and Kooks LT headers) and took me 5 days in a small dingy garage to...
